Funny story about Cena-haters. TM and I went to MSG for the Royal Rumble. As we were waiting for the doors to open, a couple of idiots started chanting "Cena sucks!"- and keep in mind this is when everyone still thinks that he's out another 3-9 months.
I turned to Todd and his other friend and said that I couldn't believe that anyone was stupid enough to be chanting that, and anyone who chanted that obviously didn't know what they were talking about since Cena' one of the best in the business. I then had this guy next to us say 'uh oh'. I looked at him, and he told me that he was in the business.
I'll admit at this point that I was a BIT surprised, since the guy was shorter than me (I'm 5'11") and didn't look like he was any bigger than me (I go about 150-155). I go along with him on this, though.
He tells me that Cena WAS awesome as the Prototype, but he sucked with his 'rapper gimmick'. I explained that he hadn't used the 'rapper' gimmick since before Jericho left. He conceded that, but then complained about his moveset. I countered with the fact that he's just being worked into Vince's formula and WWE style- so he can't blame Cena (and he couldn't blame Vince since the style is proven).
The guy actually wound up agreeing that I was right, and that Cena wasn't so bad after all. I turned to Todd and his friend, and noted that we were changing the world- one Cena hater at a time.
Personally, I thought that it was awesome when he came out at #30. That ruled.
It was also great to upset all the HHH-haters, who had been insisting all night that he would 'definitely' steal the spotlight since 'that's what he always does'.
But HHH is a totally different topic!
