Planet Hollywood- my personal favorite Yeah I figured that given your "upgrade" last time there. I have told your stories a few times myself. Man, I wish I could have seen that room myself. I want to get back out there and see City Center now that its open. I'd totally stay at Planet Hollywood again...hoping to get an employee rate there as my company has franchise rights for the Planet Hollywood Hotel brand now.

Tournamentmaster, IMO you are a first class friend who truly deserves a first class hotel accommodation- so you should get that employee rate! since July 2009 when the Planet Hollywod surprised me by suddenly giving me the Fountain Suite for free since I checked in late only for 1 night and they hadn't sold it yet, I have twice stayed the night at Planet Hollywood and not been offered that same upgrade (although I was offered another discount- with a view of the Strip. , see below) Back in December of 2009, somehow my bags made it onto my plane to Seattle, but I didn't (apparently I spent too much time in one of the bars at McCarren watching MNF) and I suddenly needed a room for the night to catch my new flight for the next morning. I told the taxi cab driver to take me to someplace inexpensive- he drove me to the Motel 6. Once we got there I got on the phone to the Planet Hollywood and said I can get a room here (Motel 6) for $60-what can you do to match it and they offered me a room with a view of the Strip for the same price. So I had the taxi take me to the Planet Hollywood for the same price. They even gave me a big discount for their buffet the next morning for breakfast. So yeah, the Planet Hollywood is definitely my personal favorite place to stay on the Strip.!

I was in Vegas twice over the last 15 years and don't even remember seeing the sahara. Is it off the strip someplace ? the Sahara is on the Strip- but it is on the very far northern end of the Strip. if you are going north on the Strip, at the very end the Sahara is located on the right hand side- about 1/2 block before you get to the Stratosphere on the left hand side Is that near the Excalibur ?

Anybody that has been to Vegas knows, that you are more than likely going to be walking everywhere as opposed to driving because traffic along the strip is god aweful. The only downside to walking is from North to South and back, the walk takes damn near forever. The Sahara is on the North, and Excalibur is on the south side. I would estimate with lights and foot traffic, it would take at least a half hour to walk from one end of the strip to the other, and I have done it.
TM and Mr. Vegas can correct me, but was it 08 or 09 TM when you came out? Anyway, a former coworker and I were in town for the International Pizza Expo, and we stayed at The Orleans. The Shuttle dropped us off at Gold Coast, and we walked from there to New York New York. Holy hell that was a long ass walk. Walking back to Gold Coast was no picnic either as I was drunk, and just a bit pissed off about a situtation that happened. Long story short, I have never been inside the Sahara but am sad that it is closing, since I will never get to see it.

The first time I was there I stayed at Caesers Palace and decided to just take a walk. I was so busy checking everything out I didn't realize how far I walked and ended up downtown at some place where these two chinese women wanted me to " spin wheel and win prize". Not sure how far I walked but it was far and I took cab to get back to Caesers Palace.

Of course with the new kid, I'm thinking I'm atleast another year away from convincing the wife to let me go.
