I haven’t seen any card stats (other than Musck) yet but the rumor is that Orndorff got the dreaded (+2) so many WWF guys seem to get stuck with. Iron Sheik (who beat Bob Backlund), Greg Valentine, Rick Rude, Curt Hennig, Davey Boy Smith, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, George Steel, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Claudio Castagnoli, Million Dollar Man, Roddy Piper, Powets of Pain (tag) finisher Killer Bees (tag) finisher, Dynamite Kid, Bob Orton Jr. and Don Muraco all with (+2) finishers.
Vader, Hansen, Brody, Magnum TA, Harley Race, Ox Baker all have (+3).
Guys like Gordy, Tully, Thesz and others w (+2) finishers often have a second finisher or Add 1 move on L3O.
Almost like WWF guys are immediately penalized or hit with a low ceiling of (+2). Sure, there are a few like Angle and Backlund with (+3), but they are TNT HOF cards and seen as “real wrestlers” compared to 80’s style WWF guys.
In rare occasions a guy like Macho Man has a (+3).

The piledrver rating was a specific topic they wanted to get ahead of at the Q&A. It was a decision to go +2 there and pump up the offense in a few other spots. This is one where 80s WWF kids will never get the Paul Orndorff card we see compared to what everyone else sees as his place in the overall scheme of pro wrestling history. I think the card is good, he's going to be a solid upper midcard guy who can slot into a situational main event scenario, but he's not going to be the top guy unless someone books their roster around him (as in not using any of the upper tier cards). His first match I had was a struggle against Sam Houston but he did firmly win.

This is what partially sparked my interest in using guys like Thesz and Bockwinkel less in GCON tournaments once they’ve won one. Every year we get all excited about new guys (especially WWF cards) then we go to GCON and Thesz or Bockwinkel win another LOW tournament. II feel like Macho Man won it once. Would be great if some different, yet still wildly popular wrestlers were part of that group.

Funny thing there. I lost in the first round of the legends proper tournament with Randy Savage when he got disqualified against Gotch. I got Thesz as my second chance pick because there weren't enough players to fill the spots. Thesz won his first match and lost his second against Tommy Rich. If someone posts all the bracket results it will be absurd. Nick Bockwinkel has a great card and has been my champ for a long, long time. Some of these guys should eventually be cycled out of G-Con tournaments for sure. It always seems to be the same crop in the end.
