I'm not sure if this was in the list Swarm put at the beginning, but this is from an unsigned band called Braindance that I saw back in '96 or so and was really impressed with. Their output is sporadic (and they're still unsigned), but damn, they're awesome. Kinda like Type O Negative with a little more prog rock to them. This song is called Resurrection and is set to some scenes from Bram Stoker's Dracula. Really works well. www.youtube.com/watch?v=plw1LCH6cVE

I found some other videos I really enjoyed some time ago. "Cochise" by Audio Slave. Chris Cornell and RATM, great combo, 'nuff said. Video rocked with the pyro and fireworks going off while they're jammin! Great tune! youtube.com/watch?v=PXdSOxEnwWM"Neighbor" by Ugly Kid Joe. This video rocked. Funny as hell and these guys just jam! youtube.com/watch?v=OtNW88sgO04&feature=related"Pretty Fly (For A White Guy) by The Offspring. Another classic funny video. Hot girls dancing is always cool in a video. Offspring rock! youtube.com/watch?v=f7-E1qTVJgE

A few more selections... youtube.com/watch?v=ROlCPlnCIfoOkkervil River, "Our Life Is Not a Movie or Maybe." They may be dismissed as...well...(I loathe this word even when it's used ironically) "emo" or Dashboard Confessional-esque, but they're a literate, intelligent band and this does fit the title of the thread. youtube.com/watch?v=ZO7ZWfvCjBENot the official video, but it's my favorite song of 2007: Arcade Fire's "Intervention." Like Modest Mouse but even more bombastic. (The movie is The Battleship Potemkin and it's pretty great, too.) youtube.com/watch?v=e6QnK0yql8sThe Stone Roses - "I Am the Resurrection." Fucking killer 4-minute rave outro makes this one. Sadly the Roses are one of a number of '80s and '90s bands who released one all-time classic album and then fell apart due to the personal problems/drug issues/ego/general wackiness of their lead singer. See also the La's, Neutral Milk Hotel, Guns 'n Roses, etc.
