Endgame (c) vs. Anarchy – GWF Universal Title
Behind the scenes: Endgame has been an important part of the main event scene for the last yea or so. He’s pushed as the classic good guy character who only reluctantly fights fire with fire. While some writers on the Net have worried that his old-fashioned character and lack of edge would hurt him with fans, his in-ring performances have carried him through big-time feuds with Encubus and then Disaster as he captured the Universal Title at the GWF’s biggest PPV of the year, GALAXYCLASH a few months back. Since then he’s feuded with Amazing Mann and now Anarchy as the Fed has kept him strong to help build fan reaction.
Anarchy meanwhile returned a few months back to start a feud with Valour over Valour’s “return to the Second Realm.” Cheesy, yes. But surprisingly, fans gave Anarchy a hot reaction and after beating Valour cleanly on a PPV a few months back, Anarchy has been given the monster heel push, placed in a stable with Tom Filsinger, and given a chance to main event a PPV.
Storyline: As the biggest star in the company and Universal Champion, it was obvious Endgame would become a target for Evil Owner Tom Filsinger. But things heated up when Endgame got himself DQ’d against Swarm on War Zone in a match that Mr. Filsinger had booked where Swarm had to win or be fired. Mr. Filsinger didn’t get his way, and when that happens….
watch out!!!That’s why Filsinger has sent The Brymstone Bad-Ass after the champ. Anarchy was Mr. Filsinger’s first recruit for his army and he’s been on the warpath ever since.
Endgame has one thing over the owner: Tom owns the company, but Endgame owns the belt.
Anarchy is the next in line to try and change that.
Switchblade vs. Paralyze – Hydra Lumberjack Match
Behind the scenes: In order to allow the character to cool off and regain some momentum after coming up short in his feud with Endgame and putting over Swarm, former Universal Champion Disaster was pulled off of TV in the midst of the Tom Filsinger storyline. As such, Paralyze is getting a singles push as the main focus of the feud against Tom Filsinger’s Army.
Switchblade is having a career renaissance of sorts. After nearly a year away from the ring due to injury, he returned to one of the better turns in recent history. The man who’d “injured” him, Bloodline, was now a full-fledged babyface and Switchblade played the slow burn for a few moths before becoming a heel by aligning himself with Tom Filsinger. The new look, new character, and edgier attitude has gotten great fan response and there’s an outside chance that the seasoned veteran will get a title run even at this late stage in his career.
Storyline: No one was shocked that the always independent Gladiators of Aethra refused to kowtow to GWF Owner Tom Filsinger.
But fans
were shocked when Tom Filsinger sent a swarm of nano-bots to injure Disaster, then as the Gladiator recovered in a hospital bed, sent a team of men to put him into the back of a star-cruiser and kidnap him into the depths of the cosmos. The Gladiators don’t know where their leader is at the moment, but the fight goes on and Paralyze has taken up the cause, looking for revenge.
Meanwhile, Switchblade was quick to align himself with GWF Owner Tom Filsinger after seeing that his allies in the FDF had forgiven their former enemy, Bloodline.
As anyone knows, Bloodline was the man who put Switchblade on the shelf for nearly a year with the MASTERLOCK. Obviously, Switchblade wasn’t as quick to forgive and his anger led him to challenge Bloodline in a three way match with Encubus at the last PPV and eventually to betray his teammates. To seal their new partnership, Filsinger sent a squad of his security guards to attack and injure Encubus. And in a classic case of “you scratch my back, I scratch yours,” Filsinger then booked Switchblade against Paralyze.
Of course, to ensure that the job is done correctly, Switchblade will face Paralyze in a Hydra Lumberjack Match where every lumberjack is a member of Filsinger’s security team!
Swarm vs. Tanck
Behind the scenes: Tanck has been given a solid mid-card push as a brawler and a tough guy, but has yet to really connect with the audience and has seemingly peaked in the last few months as an Interplanetary Title contender.
Swarm, meanwhile, is arguably the hottest thing in pro wrestling at the moment. After weeks of internet rumors that he was unhappy with his position on the roster, Swarm began a series of innovative worked-shoot promos where (much to the fans’ delight) he broke character, talked about backstage politics, and insulted his teammates, management, the writers, and even other more over stars. This storyline culminated in an elaborate angle where Swarm was “fired” and then no-showed a press conference with Magnus Colby to announce his signing with the CPC.
Since then, Swarm has been wildly popular and has been a central figure in many of the GWF’s storylines involving Tom Filsinger, although critics will say he has yet to get that one big win over an established main event star.
Storyline: Swarm continues to ride along on a wave of momentum. Tanck meanwhile has failed twice to impress GWF Owner Tom Filsinger. The Strong Man from CTA-102 begged GWF Commissioner Massif to give him one last chance: a No DQ Match against the biggest thorn in the owner’s side.
’Sensational’ Sonny Owens (c) vs. Payback vs. Kill Prey – Tirion Triple Threat – IP Title
Behind the scenes: The three men actually share very similar situations. They are amazing athletes known for their show-stealing matches who have been focused on the IP scene.
Kill Prey is a skilled worker with a unique style who maintains a strong ring presence with the help of his Thrill of the Chase cohorts, Bounty Hunter and Shann-Ra. But some say his lack of promo skills are keeping him out of the main event. He is a former IP champion.
Payback is also a former IP champion. He’s a phenomenal athlete who gets great fan reaction. His recent push was derailed by some nagging injuries that Payback is only recently fully recovered from.
Sonny Owens debuted at the last PPV and won the IP Title on his first night with the company. He is a former WGX Triple champion and was considered the top free agent in the business when he spurned the CPC to sign with the GWF. Big things are expected from this amazing and entertaining performer and even the most cynical Nets fans are drooling over the prospect of the eventual Endgame/Owens dream match.
Storyline: At last month’s EVENT HORIZON PPV, IP Champion Kill Prey issued an open challenge for his title. Much to his surprise, the challenge was answered by electrifying newcomer and former WGX mega-star Sonny Owens. The Sensational One won the match and the gold and Kill Prey is looking to get the title back in a more level setting. Unfortunately for KP, former champ Payback is also in the mix after fighting Kill Prey to a draw on War Zone.
Owens was given the choice to pick a challenger and the always brash champion said he’d be happy to take on both men at BAD INTENTIONS.
Anivar announces his retirement!!!
Behind the scenes: Anivar is a midcarder with a limited ability to work In the ring, but a fantastic look and a natural charisma. He’s seen as a potential star if given time and the right push.
Tauran is the polar opposite. He’s a great worker, but is almost painfully uninteresting. As a face he was seen as a lesser version of Endgame’s character. A heel turn a few months back sparked new interest in the character and the feud between The Colonizers and Genesis.
Storyline: The Genesis/Colonizers feud took a shocking turn a few months back when Tauran betrayed his teammate Anivar and joined Epoch’s team. Since then, it’s been a story filled with twists and turns.
Because of his past actions and his treatment of Slave Beast, the AniMen began targeting The Colonizers, and were sometimes teaming up with Anivar. At the same time, American Guy was very vocal about his “humans only” xenophobia, which caused extreme tension between the AniMen and Stars N Stripes.
This led to a wild three-way tag match that Stars N Stripes won, but after the match both men ended up on the floor. This gave Epoch an opening and he stalked Latasha and tried to attack her with a stun gun. But she was saved when Antak threw himself in the way of the blast.
Antak was injured, but his sacrifice changed the mind of American Guy, showing him that not all “aliens” were evil and SNS fully committed to an alliance with Anivar to take down The Colonizers.
But ever the strategist, Epoch responded by enlisting GWF veteran and longtime Colonizer lackey, SENTRY! This move paid dividends almost immediately when Sentry assaulted Anivar after he had beaten Tauran on WAR ZONE. A scuffle resulted, and Anivar ended up taking a Stun Gun Blast directly in the face from Tauran.
The following week, Stars N Stripes stood alongside the AniMen and announced that, at BAD INTENTIONS, Anivar would be officially retiring due to his injuries.
The Troubleshooters (w/Phantasy) (c) vs. High Stakes – GWF Tag Title
Behind the scenes: The Angry Young Men split up. The latest version of The Gladiators sputtered. And a highly successful run by Darwin’s Legacy was cut short by the politics between the GWF and the CPC. So The Troubleshooters have inherited the mantle of top team in the company. Maybe by default.
But the athletic and charismatic Troubleshooters certainly have everything necessary to carry the tag division. There first test begins here with a relatively unproven team, High Stakes.
High Stakes meanwhile are daring and innovative and popular with the fans, but are still seen more as underdogs then actual contenders.
Storyline: After months of chasing, The Troubleshooter avenged their loss at the hands of CPC’s Darwin’s Legacy and regained the GWF Tag Titles last month at the GLORY DAYS PPV. Their first defense come against the high-flying High Stakes, who have been on a roll for the past few weeks.
Encubus (w/Thantos) vs. Amazing Mann (w/
Behind the scenes: Encubus came out on the winning end of a red-hot feud with Bloodline and is now being built up as a legit Universal contender by matching him against one of the better workers in the business.
Mann, meanwhile, was a transitional challenger and put on a series of “amazing” matches with Endgame in the past two months. Strutter takes the pressure off of his weaker promo skills. This match could be seen as being moved down the card. But after he gives the rub to Encubus, expect Mann to be a mainstay in the IP scene.
Storyline: A chance encounter led to a heated rivalry when both Mann and Encubus laid claim to being top contenders for the Universal Title. Mann and Strutter responded by ambushing Encubus and Thantos backstage and Thantos ended up locked in the CONTOTION. Humiliated, the GameMaster struck back the following week by having Encubus and Sly Drury attack Mann while Thantos put the MASTERLOCK on Vin Strutter. These two talented wrestlers are looking to settle their differences the old-fashioned way.
Havoc & Rush vs. Meat Lover’s Special vs. The Colonizers vs. Shann-Ra & Amazonia – Fatal Four Way
Behind the scenes: The Gladiators (Havoc & Rush): Havoc didn’t click with the audience when teamed with Paralyze. He’s been matched up with the more athletic Rush as a change of pace from previous Gladiator teams and many in the company are comparing these two to Twin Blood.
Meat Lover’s Special: American Guy got massive heat for his “anti-alien” gimmick and then just as much support when he “changed his ways.” He was teamed up with Minotaur as a temporary comedy team to take advantage of his popularity and cover for US Male’s recent injury. But the team caught fire and fan’s loved the gimmick and the meat-related segments were surprisingly popular. So look for the two to stay together, at least for now, and for arenas everywhere to be filled with the chant of “WE LOVE MEAT!!”
The Colonizers: Epoch & Slave Beast have teamed up regularly since Tauran turned heel and became the primary singles wrestler for the group. Epoch is over as the Colonizer mouthpiece, but hasn’t really caught on as a worker.
Amazonia & Shann-Ra: The women’s division has been a bit stagnant, which led to the creation of the wildly popular DIVA SEARCH COMPETITION. But the runner-up Divas weren’t ready for full-time competition and were “fired” by owner Tom Filsinger as a way to create storyline tension between Filsinger and the rest of the women in the GWF. For now, the women stand united against the ‘evil owner’ and his female companion, Diva Search winner Mona Mammaries.
Storyline: The surprisingly popular Meat Lover’s Special team has tons of hard feelings for The Colonizers.
Havoc may have gone one-on-one with Rush at GLORY DAYS, but the two Gladiators have settled their differences in the aftermath of Disaster being kidnapped by Tom Filsinger. And they’re ready to go after the Universal Tag Titles.
The three teams were set to fight to be named #1 Contender, but Tom Filsinger threw them a curve.
He tied to punish the team of Amazonia & Shann-Ra a few weeks back by having them face CTA-102 (Tanck & Betrayer). But the women pulled the upset and Tom responded by adding them to this brutal Fatal Four Way.
