Card #238: War Zone (Phobos Sundome, Mars)
A raucous crowd gets even louder, as they erupt in a wall of boos as Iron Hand’s music plays and the reviled commissioner, along with Women’s champion Mother Superior, strides to the ring…
Iron Hand: You people can boo all you want, but the fact is my mere presence has not only restored law and order in the GWF, but has made this federation more exciting than its been in years!
The crowd continues to boo, even starting the ever classic, “Asshole,” chant…
IH: Tonight the excitement will continue without pause, as the main event on the War Zone will feature that out-of-control scumbag, Kill Prey, doing battle with the best tag team in the galaxy, the champs, Divided We Fall! It won’t just be any match, either, but an elimination rules, handicapped match. Let’s see how much sneak-attacking Kill Prey does after Bloodline and Encubus get through handling him!
More jeers, but the commissioner is hardly fazed…
IH: Also, tonight will see the kick-off of the Interplanetary title tournament! The GWF will have an I-P champion it can be proud of, rather than that bum that used to hold the belt! Four opening round matches will take place tonight, including a rematch of Payback and Tricks! Finally, with new champions everywhere, next week I will unveil three matches that will help determine who will challenge Monolith for the GWF Title at OUTRAGE. The three matches will feature Endgame…Wolf…Havoc…Sly Drury…Vidtek… and Swarm! The three winners will then square off in a triple threat match with the winner…
The commissioner is cut off as Anivar’s music hits…the Martian crowd comes to its feet as the FDF enforcer storms to the ring…
IH: What the hell’s with you...interrupting my address?!?
Anivar: I don’t give a damn about an interuption, and I don’t care about getting a title shot! I want a piece of Monolith, and I want it tonight! He tried to put Taruan out for good, last night, and I’m not waiting to let Tauran even the score!
IH: The champion is not here tonight. After such a dominant performance last night, I felt he deserved the night off.
A: Dominant nothing! Taruan had him beat at the Perennial! He barely got away with his phoney title!
IH: Enough! I’m talking, and if you like being on the payroll, you’ll damn sure let me finish!
A: Fine. Speak.
IH: If it’s Monolith you want, you can have him. Next week on the War Zone. No title, but if it’s Monolith you want, you will get him.
A: You tell that genetic jerk, I will make him pay for almost crippling my partner. Bank on it!
--The Strongmen beat Jungle Nights when Gryt pinned Panther Warrior following a spinning head ram.
Kill Prey is sitting in his dressing room, apparently in deep thought as he looks at the floor. The crowd goes wild as the image is shown on the Holotron. Another loud pop, as Payback walks into the dressing room. Kill Prey looks up at the Hardcore Titan. A smirk comes across the hunter’s face…
KP: So I guess you’re here to tell me you got some issue with what I did last night at the Perennial.
PB: I take issue with anybody that hits me from behind with a club.
KP: Damn, man, the only reason you got hit with the club is ‘cause you were too stupid to duck after you saw me smack it across Tricks’ head! And, honestly, I don’t really give a good damn whether you’re pissed or not. It’s nothing personal, but anybody straps my belt around their waist before I get a shot at it is gonna be in for a damn serious ass-kicking. Point blank, Payback, that’s how it is.
PB: And I can respect that. I’m just here to tell you now, don’t get involved in my match tonight. As of right now, this isn’t personal. Screw with me again, and you’re getting carried out.
KP: Yeah, yeah, I’m listening but I ain't really hearing you. Just go head on out there, win my title back, and we’ll settle up after that. Good luck.
--Valour pins The Main Event following a VIOLENT OUTBURST in the opening match of the Interplanetary title tournament. Main Event fared very well throughout, until he became distracted by the presence of Axaran at ringside. The referee went to shoo him from ringside, allowing Valour to blast the rookie with a stun rod.
--Payback beat Tricks by disqualification when the psychotic clown hit him with a chair. This was a brutal, blood-soaked brawl in which both men hit high-impact move after high-impact move until both competitors were nearly out. Tricks finally snapped as both men were battling outside the ring, and delivered a vicious chair shot in clear view of the referee.
Backstage, LaTasha approaches the Main Event…
LT: Can I get a word with you?
ME: Just like all the other chicks, but just make sure you contain yourself and try to maintain your professionalism, baby!
LaTasha rolls her eyes and laughs saractically…
LT: I will try, thanks. So, what is the deal with you, Swarm and She Devil?
ME: Damn, woman! I told you to keep things professional!
LT: I am being professional. This is interesting to our fans. After all, it’s not every day…
The Main Even flips suddenly, and becomes serious…
ME: It’s not every day, what? That a wrestler sends his son out to ringside to play mindgames with one of his rivals? Is that what you were going to ask about? I hope so…because that’s what I’m going to tell you about. Get that camera over here!
Main Event tears the shades from his face, exposing hard, intense eyes…
ME: Listen to me, Swarm. If you have a problem at home with your kid because you weren’t a good enough, Daddy all these years, that’s between you and him. If you got a problem at home between you and your old lady because you haven’t been your business behind closed doors and she starts to look other places, that’s between you and her. But when that burned out, retarded looking kid of yours shows up at ringside and costs me a chance at the Interplanetary title, that’s between you and me. You’re not ready for the Main Event, Swarm, so I suggest you stick around the undercard and play with the circus freaks.
--U.S. Male beat Patch after superplexing him in an Interplanetary title tournament match. Another back-and-forth battle in which both men turned in impressive performances. Patch actually controlled a good portion of the match before scaling the turnbuckle but allowing Male too much recovery time in the process.
--Nosfera pulled a stunning upset by defeating Disaster in the final opening round match of the Interplanetary title tournament. Disaster hit RAMPAGE early on, but a distraction by Omen allowed the demon to recouperate and continue. After nearly 15 minutes of highly-physical action, Omen again interfered following a second RAMPAGE. When Disaster turned around after dropping the manager from the ring apron, he was met with DEMON’S BREATH. Nosfera immediately leapt on top of the fallen Gladiator to score the stunning win.
Endgame is shown talking with U.S. Male and Anivar in the dressing room of the FDF. All three men become silent when a surprise visitor appears in the doorway...
WOLF!
Endgame: This isn't exactly the crowd you usually like to hang out with is it, Wolf?
Wolf: I'm not here for socializing. I take it you heard Iron Hand's announcement about next week.
Endgame rises from his seat and stares down at Wolf...
Endgame: I did. And I hope you're who I'm paired up with next week. I've never made it a secret that you're one of the so-called heroes of the GWF that I have a problem with and I hope that I get my first crack at you next week.
Wolf: There was a time when I would have snapped, went flying off the handle and left you laying in a pool of your own blood in your own dressing room, in front of your own teammates. Fortunately for you, I've mellowed some over the years and that's not what's going to happen. Right now, anyway. Make no mistake, you're one of the most talented wrestlers I have ever seen in all my years in this business. But if it's a shot at me you want, you can have it whenever you think you're ready. Just be sure that you are ready.
The staredown continues until Wolf actually turns his back on the FDF and begins to walk out of the dressing room...
The all-time legend stops in the doorway, turns his head to the side and looks back briefly...
Wolf: Oh, yeah. Good luck next week.
After the break, a disgusted and irate Disaster is shown tearing apart the Gladiator dressing room as Rage, Paralyze and Strafe look on in concern…
Disaster: I’ve had enough of this shit! Night after night, week after week, we keep coming up short! This is not the Gladiator way! Aw, to hell with it! This is not my way! I refuse to sit back and watch us become after-thoughts in the federation our people helped to build and dominate!
Paralyze: Calm down. Sometimes…
Disaster: Screw sometimes! This run of mediocrity stops now. The Gladiators will return to dominance in the GWF. And I don’t care who I have to take out or who I have to put out to make that happen.
With that, Disaster kicks open the dressing room door and storms out toward the landing area…
Strafe: I’ve never seen him like that.
Paralyze: He just needed to blow off some steam. He’ll be all right.
Rage: I don’t know. But I don’t like the sound of what he said. Especially the putting out part.
Paralyze: Don’t worry about it. I’ve known him longer than you guys. Like I said, he’ll be all right.
Iron Hand comes to ringside to sit with Dragonmaster and Vanity to do commentary for the upcoming main event…
--GWF Tag Team champions Divided We Fall beat Kill Prey in an elimination rules handicapped match. Kill Prey held his own against the tag team champions, but eventually the double-team attacks by the champs proved too tough for him. Bloodline scored the pin after a COSMIC BIG BANG that hit while Encubus had Kill Prey in the MASTERLOCK. Iron Hand actually left the announce table to taunt Kill Prey from ringside.
After the three count is made, Iron Hand intructs Bloodline to return to the top to deliver a second COSMIC BIG BANG. The more noble of the two DWF members, Bloodline hesitates. Encubus shows no such remorse, however, picking Killing Prey up from the mat and snapping him back down with his GAMEMASTER DDT…
Shann-Ra rushes from the back, slides under the bottom rope and drapes herself over her brother’s beaten body. Iron Hand laughs wickedly before odering the Tag Team champions to exit the ring, leaving Kill Prey a battered mess for the second consecutive show.
A raucous crowd gets even louder, as they erupt in a wall of boos as Iron Hand’s music plays and the reviled commissioner, along with Women’s champion Mother Superior, strides to the ring…
