Well, just got a better update via e-mail from my mother-in-law:
"Just returned from IA City. BIG improvement from yesterday. She couldn't move her legs without morphine yesterday. They think the widespread pain and swelling is reactive arthritis. Today they will do EKG and Heart Echo to rule out rheumatic fever. Also will have Lyme and TB testing. She was sitting up, watching a movie and ate some lunch. She is much more alert and VERY afraid of any medical personnel who walk through the door. She is also in isolation so, we wear protective clothing etc. They are still waiting on the MRSA test and whatever kind of bacteria is growing in that R hip. PT is getting her up and around some...everything considered, she is on her way back to us."
Improvement, but still in the woods.

Mostly good news now, finally. The infection is pretty well licked, although she has to have antibiotics for another six weeks. They have one more surgery for her to have the antibiotics set up somehow through a port in her chest so she gets them consistently. That's on Friday. After that, she should be cleared to go home.
About time.
Thanks to everybody for thoughts, prayers, whatever you had to offer. It means a lot to me and I'm sure to her family, and I know it helped.
