Looks like their leading up to unifying the titles but is it a goo idea?
I say no. They have enough issues now having good storylines but with two titles you can do more. eliminating one I think will give a lot of people less TV time and released with the same boring storyline every week on both shows and with 5 hours of shows you need more good storylines and good action not the same stuff week after week

it should give people more tv time imo. they need to limit the champions tv time like in the old days. put him out there for interviews, but not wrestling every week. otherwise what's the point of the ppv's? I just don't think there's any reason to have two World titles when you have basically 5 guys on each show competing for the top title.

To that point, that's exactly why a second world title is needed.
The reason that there was a brand extension initially was to give talent a larger platform to develop and perform. RAW is the flagship brand, and SmackDown is the extension. ECW was the third extension, but let's not muddy the waters here. When done right, Smackdown was the show that utilized and developed some of the best stars of the past decade. I argue that without Smackdown and a second world title, Eddy Guerrero, John Cena, JBL, and CM Punk would never have been given a chance to test main event waters. Two shows with a recognized world title is a good thing. It allows you to expand your roster and to give them a chance to develop into better workers.
The creative direction of the company right now is enough to induce acid reflux. I do not know who is making which call, but over the course of 2013, there have been dismal moments coupled with some legitimate moments of excitement and engagement. I know that when a daughter and son in law take control of a company, it is not pretty. But given the amount of creative minds in the business, why not give them an outlet to shine? By providing two platforms for talent to create programming, you grow your brand share. Combining them is not. Would it be better if there were different companies with high levels of talent and exciting programming? Of course it would. But since no company has come close to WWE levels since the demise of WCW, I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for it to happen over the course of the next few years. If I had a roster like theirs, I'd create my own competition by strengthening two brands and giving them a strong sense of identity.
It also gives the fan more involvement with the show. Here's an example. Who is the better world champion? A lot of us here can look at WWE, TNA, ROH, etc., and argue who is the better world champion. But to the casual fan, they won't have discovered, or possibly don't care about, other wrestling companies in the world. So even on a basic level, you would have someone try to figure out who is the better world champion. If you are thinking about wrestling as a fan, the mission is accomplished. Fans are generated through interest, not the other way around.
And finally, you have two pretty cool belt designs. Why not keep them both in circulation? More to the point, why not have both available for purchase?
It nothing personal, Sonny... it's business!
