It's one of those "I'll believe it when I see it" things. He seems like a guy who likes the AEW way of doing things. However, he's maybe the last generation of guys who sees WWE as having "made it" so maybe. The younger talent could be content making their name outside of WWE, doing indies and getting social media fame and AEW and all (and there's a lot of money to be made in that different paradigm, don't get me wrong), but Omega may feel like he has some unfinished business the way his developmental stint went nowhere.

I didn’t believe the Cody rumor, and was wrong. So who knows. The headline is interesting. It says WWE wants him, not the other way around. So I could see this also simply being set up to celebrate when Omega re-signs with AEW so they can say he chose them over WWE.

No matter how "good" the wrestling can be in AEW, I still don't consider what they do in the same league as WWE... when it's done right, of course. I struggle to see past the glorified indy promotion that AEW is. Kenny isn't getting younger, his body could go at anytime, and he has nothing to prove in Japan: WWE is the last frontier if he really wants to cement his name. NWA? Nah, he doesn't need that.

Cody Rhodes made a recent comment when talking about the origins of AEW about how the other guys “want to do the PWG thing.” They took everything that is fun from indi wrestling and introduced it to the world via cable TV. They are the biggest indi fed ever and they have a TV deal. Pretty darn successful when you look at it like that. But if the idea was that PWG and indi wrestling was always better than WWE, they just needed a TV deal where everybody can see it, then that’s not great planning. You’re not going to build a sustainable business on the backs of the IWC fans who care most about what Meltzer rates the matches.

I personally have though the Bloodline angle has been some of the most compelling booking that has been done in the last decade. It didn't feel like it was hot shotted in any way. Honestly, the only other time that felt even remotely similar was the long build to Adam Page v. Omega for the title. Maybe that is what it is: WWE seems to want to entertain fully their fans and focus on that entertainment through great wrestling, and here recently (at least with Bloodline) great storytelling. AEW, it feels like, since the aforementioned Page v. Omega build, that they are looking to have matches that the Internet smarks, and dirt sheet writers love. Don't get me wrong, I respect the hell outta Omega. I respect the hell outta Danielson, Mox, and Page, and Adam Cole. It just feels like the purpose is different from the two promotions, and that's OK.
