CARD 961 – LUNA AUDITORIUM:
Here we go, the first show of 2107 and it’s all about Cruiserweights tonight. The GWF bows to pressure of the fans and creates a division. The matches for the belt in the CPC have been thrilling and it’s made the new Commissioners see sense. The first round tournament dominates this show. The appetite for it surprises the GWF who struggled to whittle down the entry list to 8 guys. Guys like Vanity and Pollux didn’t make the cut. Prodigy was invited to compete but gave no response. A couple of other interested parties were found to be overweight. The DEIMOS PERENNIAL will host the final matches.
The Centaurians and X-Termination battle to a time limit draw in what was a tag title bout. Some unhappy combatants. Blade and Sleeze had their eyes on the Cruiserweight belt to supplement their tag teaming success. But the scheduling of this title match by the championship committee cut them out of it. However they grin and bear it. The strict approach of the Commissioners, especially Morpheus, means they daren’t question it. Anyway talk of all that probably a bit disrespectful of the tag belts. The new Commissioners all too aware of their importance. Memories of when they held the belts as the Guardians in the Early Classics era no doubt still fresh in their minds even though it was over 30 years ago. The current champs, the Centaurians, a very, very different team to what they were. But great champions nonetheless. Their opponents, X-Termination, as a result of Johnny Rocket’s union with Terak’s team find themselves fighting on the hero side but there is no doubt who the crowd is giving their backing to. Also Johnny cannot drop old habits and is still acting very much in a heelish mould with his distractions. Unfortunately this goes to time. I did not have loads of time to roll it and it just seemed to go on and on so I invoked a countdown of rolling just 20 more moves. It had already been going about 15 mins. The story of the match is Talisman survived HEADBANGER’S BALL early but had taken a lot of punishment. Blade had to carry the can for much of the match after this. He did well and hit SWITCHBLADE KICK on Sleeze but his pin was unsuccessful. Ultimately he got overwhelmed. Grunge used KILLER AIR GUITAR several times on him and although Blade clung on if it had not been for the bell the belts would probably of switched hands. Of course Johnny disputes the outcome and feels his team were hard done by. But doubt he’ll have the courage to take it to the Commissioner’s office.
Thrash against Anaxis ends in double DQ mayhem. Thrash went ballistic on learning that to earn a chance to win the women’s belt again she would have to beat Anaxis. Several slaves, used as sparring partners on Aethra, suffered greatly at her rage in preparation for this bout. Poor Anaxis waited for Thrash to come out. She can certainly look after herself but wasn’t being given much chance with Thrash in this mood. If looks could kill as Thrash made her way out. Wastes no time in tearing into Anaxis who tried to fend her off but was soon facing FEMME FATAL. Managed to kick out though. Shortly after this a brawl takes place outside. The famed bowl that Anaxis carries around gets smashed to smithereens and as both ladies arm themselves with a shard the ref decides to disqualify them both. With no outright winner the identify of the next challenger to Amazonia remains a mystery.
Cruiserweight Belt Tournament First Round:
Brainstorm sends Scion Nexus to the bottom of the class. Brainstorm tries to mess with Scion’s head by offering up either Darla or Maxine Babe to spend the night with him. He bets Scion has never been with a women and this is his big chance to become a man. With both women gyrating provocatively in his face it certainly makes Scion hesitate. Lord Nexus calls for focus and Scion snaps out the trance but it’s too late. Brainstorm has taken advantage and smashes him with a loaded textbook. He got away with it as it was before the bell. Brainstorm laughs and points to his head as if to say ‘how smart was that?’ After that it is pretty much one way traffic. Scion did well to last as long as he did. Carrying 5 fatigue tokens and on the end of THE BRAINSTORMER twice before finally giving up the ghost when in a Scorpion Death Lock. Brainstorm arrogantly calls his ladies over and they hang off an arm each. He says to Scion, struggling to get up, “you had your chance. Guess you’ll remain a virgin”. Brainstorm maybe on the hero side this year but he’s still pretty insufferable.
Enigma cruises past Karah. A high flying dream of a match. Fans were anxious to see Karah’s apparent improvement. Normally he would be big underdog but maybe he’s got a chance now. However the stats don’t lie. 6 fatigue tokens and FEET OF FURY x2 shows just how one-sided it actually was. Karah’s supposed improvements didn’t get any airtime here. Enigma was relentless and progressed via an Assassin Drop. Maybe Karah’s skills will be more evident in tag teaming as Terak has admitted “this is what we’ve been working on the most”. But for now Enigma moves on and is being labelled as the favourite to win this tournament.
Lycosa survives a scare to beat Gila by DQ. Massive pop for Gila. Riding an unexpected wave of popularity. He loves it and acknowledges the crowd but his moment is rudely caught short as Lycosa flies at him. Knocking both him and Gila down. Mollock is there too but Lycosa wisely kept away from him. Darkos laughs as Gila crawls in front of him and taunts his kind will soon be an endangered species. But Gila’s new best bud, Mollock, steps in and picks him up. Putting him gently into the ring so this can start as a fair fight. Lycosa moves straight onto him with BLACK WIDOW’S BITE. Gila withstood the move but after that it’s relentless offence. Just a case of Gila hanging on as long as he could. That is until a surprise piledriver from Gila after coming off the ropes put him on L3O. The fan noise lifts as a Creepy Crawler follows. Hopes of an upset now on the mind. But Lycosa scrambles outside. Gila gets too enthusiastic in his pursuit. Following and pitching him into a post. Then whips him straight into Mollock’s chest. Lycosa is down and out. Gila returned to the ring and hears the bell. Starts celebrating a count-out win but the joy is short lived as the announcer declares that Gila was disqualified.
Ursa Major defeated Mutant. The thought of Mutant holding a belt probably never entered anyones minds before the establishment of the Cruiserweight belt. How cool would it be if it prevailed. Although unlikely it has the backing of the Terrorists and with them menacingly stalking ringside you never know. Not sure that’s going to be a regular thing but it gave an added edge. The Terrorists had an impact very early. Ursa Major threatened a super quick win with SHOTGUN CRADLE but got a face full of powder from them. After that he was in all sorts of trouble. Got absolutely savaged. Somehow he came through it all. Withstanding TEMPLE GRINDER twice and 6 fatigue tokens worth of damage. Just when it looked he may not be able to take anymore and was slumped against a turnbuckle Mutant charges at him. Ursa Major got an instinctive boot up and Mutant’s head almost got taken off. The popular Titan collapses ontop for a pin victory that moments before had looked extremely unlikely.

CARD 962 – DEIMOS PERENNIAL – DEIMOS INTERGALACTIC ARENA:
GWF attempting to jazz things up. Loads of special effects. They are also staggering big debuts to try and sell more tickets. So fans will have to wait a little longer to see Spike in action. Wonder if the CPC will book him first? The main feature of the show is the conclusion of the mini Cruiserweight belt. Paragon put a spanner in works as he refuses to defend his GWF Heavyweight belt. So it will happen at the CPC PERENNIAL. The new Commissioners are looking into putting preventative measures in place going forwards. A huge welcome for Exo-King who is present as the special guest of the GWF. He gets a decent pop from the fans and on the outside looks a picture of health. Of course his underlying issues are well known but it was a great touch to see him honoured. As one of the most important guys during the code breaking era his importance to the fed cannot be downplayed. As much a pioneer as the likes of Omega and Morpheus. Doomsayer is revelling in his own creative genius as he bulldozes a promo to announce the big debut of Desolation Factor at CPC PERENNIAL where they will be showing off their power. Is it against the Gladiators? The Titans? The Ninja Assassins perhaps? Nope it’s against the Awesome Studs. Looking for an easy night and to make a statement of domination. Could be mega embarrassing if they don’t win big given all the build up
Rebel Empire gets the better of Chaos and Heracles in the main event where Massif was the ref. The feud between Chaos and Mandrill begins. Kind of. Their first face to face meeting as enemies is being teased but Chaos goes against Mandrill’s fellow Colonizers in the form of Rebel Empire. Chaos warns he will beat every single Colonizer if he has to. He won’t stop until Mandrill is beaten and the Alpha Stone has been returned “Mandrill still has the chance to call off his aggression, return what is rightfully mine and accept me as the villain leader. To show him what he’s up against myself and Heracles will destroy Rebel Empire”. The new Commissioners know this is a real powder keg of a match and turn to trusted colleague Massif to keep this under control. The pop Massif gets from loyal fans dwarfs any given to the combatants themselves. He enters and makes it clear to all those inside the ring that he will take no nonsense. There are some huge guys to try and control but Massif never shirks his responsibility. That said he does stay pretty hands off in the match. Only intervening a couple of times at most. He doesn’t want to be the one who ruins the big main event if he can help it. It is Rebel Empire who ends up victorious to give the Colonizers first blood in this feud. Heracles started off against Vendetta and there were no black marks against his name by the end. He won the power battle against Vendetta and even hit OLYMPIA. It didn’t come close to ending the contest but gave Chaos a good base to work from when he was tagged in. However Chaos got himself caught out. He was all about the power and whilst it worked okay against Vendetta the moment Nefarus came into it things fell apart. The sudden change in style was something Chaos couldn’t cope with. Nefarus sensed this would be easier than he would of anticipated and went for SCISSORDRIVER successfully. Chaos and Heracles were hampered by the fact Massif allows one less pin save than normal and what with them not being an official tag team it meant they had none to call on. They’d also left Anaxis behind because Chaos stubbornly refuses to have a woman at ringside for his matches. So there was nothing to save him. Big win for Rebel Empire and a hugely successful night for the Colonizers. Depressing start for Chaos and the Stormtroopers. But this is just the beginning. This feud will rage on as long as it has to.
Mandrill battered Wolf in a Cosmic Cage match. Probably not what Mandrill wants, to be sidetracked with facing Wolf. Especially with a shot at the GWF Heavyweight belt on the horizon. But he knows he has to keep traditional enemies under some semblance of control. Guys like Wolf and Max Shield are not going to go away just because he is duelling with Chaos. The cage scenario was Morpheus’s idea. The fans want big matches with special stipulations. His attitude is give them what they want. However he might of hoped for a more competitive battle than played out. From the moment Wolf entered the cage he was unusually sluggish. A Voltaic Stunner slowed him down very early and got very little meaningful offence during the few minutes it lasted. Mandrill steadily put more and more tokens onto Wolf. There was a couple of dramatic pull backs from Wolf as Mandrill tried to exit the structure after deploying his finishers. But each time Mandrill just turned round and launched another offensive wave. In the end it was a Rack Power Bomb that did the deed. The whole cage shuddered as Wolf hit the mat. Stunned him long enough this time to allow Mandrill out. But he was pretty quick to shut the door and insist it was locked behind him. Just so he has plenty of time to get away before Wolf comes back around again. Has no interest in flaunting the win. Job done and now time to leave. More important things to move onto like dealing with Chaos and pursuing the Heavyweight belt.
Malice beats Pegasus in a Titan Death match for what is the biggest win of his career so far. Now the Gladiators are clear of their intense Sudden Death with WAR it’s time to make their mark against the rest of the roster again. They don’t come much bigger than Pegasus and the new Minister of War, Massacre, is keen to push Malice onto greater things. Is it significant that he faces Pegasus instead of Vengeance? Such matters are far from the minds of the two combatants though. They both give their very best in a scintillating match. Pegasus makes the early running but Malice shows incredible tolerance for pain. Twice withstanding PROJECT PEGASUS. First time Pegasus couldn’t get him flipped over. When he tried again soon after Malice did go backwards into the pinning position but remarkably powered out of it. The crowd gasped and even Pegasus was taken aback. The feat gave Malice a bit of an adrenaline surge. He gets out the path of a lazy turnbuckle charge and the match turns on a sixpence. Malice lays Pegasus out with an Atomic Spike among other devastating moves. Then decides it’s worth trying FIELDS OF MALICE. Looks like bad news for Pegasus as he sets up the table outside the ring for the riskier version of the move. Everyone is willing Pegasus to move but it doesn’t happen and the table breaks apart on impact. Malice always hurts himself doing the move and is a bit laboured in pitching Pegasus back in the ring afterwards. So much so that Pegasus actually summons a kickout but it’s a nano second after three and Malice takes it. A win that will not only send reverberations through the GWF but the CPC too.
Ladies champ, Amazonia, continues her reign by defeating Anaxis. At the risk of upsetting the Gladiators it is decided by the Commissioners that the title shot should go to Anaxis. Did they just flip a coin? One of Omega’s aims as co-commissioner is to make this title universally respected. He knows the women’s roster is a little on the thin side and will certainly look to build it up. Am sure he would of been pleased with what was on display here. Although it didn’t last too long there were very few transgressions and plenty of decent wrestling. The perfect advertisement for the women’s division. It’s Amazonia who comes out on top. She staves off the early energies of Anaxis and gets her with AMAZON ATTACK to win. Amazonia later boldly declares its time she made her mark in the CPC and declares she’s coming for that women’s belt too. She doesn’t care if it is friend or foe that is holding it.
Cruiserweight Belt Tournament Final:
Brainstorm beats Ursa Major to become the first champion. Better late than never but finally the GWF would crown its Cruiserweight champ. Nobody expected Brainstorm to be in the final. Originally his elimination of Enigma was considered a blessing in disguise for Darkos at the time. To of had Enigma and Lycosa squaring off might of caused fireworks within the Masked Assassins. Except Lycosa then went and got himself disqualified too against Ursa Major. A disaster for Darkos. Anyway onto the championship match. Again Johnny Rocket pulls rank over Brainstorm’s women. But they are on standby ready to smother him in the ring should he win. Comes to an end pretty fast. Ursa Major started well enough but maybe trying to go a bit too quickly. He had Brainstorm pinned against the turnbuckle. Or so he thought for as he goes for a shoulder blast Brainstorm moves. Really took it out of Ursa Major as he’d given it some real oomph. As he staggers about clutching his shoulder Brainstorm gets in position for a schoolboy and uses it to get the pin. Shrieks of delight are heard straight away as Maxine Babe and Darla run down the aisle to be part of the celebrations. Maxine gets far too carried away and whips off her skimpy bikini top and starts twirling it over her head. Red faced officials move in to smother her with a towel. The belt almost gets forgotten to be presented amid the mayhem and hysteria.
Ninja Assassins too good for Hunters of Prey. Karah may of bombed out of the Cruiserweight tournament disappointingly but he is looking happy here. Proud to be part of a tag team with Wildcat. Once he gets in the ring becomes a real livewire. The Ninjas move pretty quick but Karah is right on their pace. Wow, what an improvement the new card is, from a tag perspective at least. The difference is like night and day. Sadly he isn’t to be part of a winning team. His partner, Wildcat, doesn’t show the same levels and gets totally cut off after a while. Shows great endurance to stay afloat as long as he did but he was hit with DOUBLE EDGE SWORD countless times. Karah, Terak and Mollock all called upon at different times to assist. Finally Daeman uses DEATH POINT STRIKE and he yields to it. Terak and company not too downbeat. Some positives to take.
Manslaughter goes over Defender of the Realm by DQ. Defender says he delighted to be back in the hustle and bustle of the GWF now his banishment period has lapsed. His Jester days are behind him again. Trouble is the frequent sightings of Jester suggest he is still grappling hard with a split personality. Some are even wondering, come the curtain call, who will even step out. After a prolonged curtain call it is … drumroll please … Defender that emerges. A huge crowd pop and a look of relief from Commander Sam who was already at ringside. Unfortunately it’s all a bit of an anticlimax as Defender gets caught up in an early brawl during which Manslaughter took a hold of Commander Sam by the throat. Darkos was busy distracting the ref. Defender took a hold of his spear and smashed it across Manslaughter’s back. Inconveniently the ref caught site of the huge video wall showing this. So although he didn’t see the incident with his own eyes it was enough for him to make the DQ call.
Death’s Head beats Archon pretty easily. Archon is part of a dying breed. Even after all these years in the GWF and witnessing such horrors he still stubbornly holds onto his values. He is as noble and fair minded now as he was when he debuted in 2102. Currently he wants to get his hands on Anarchy but this new Brymstonian terror remains elusive for now. But Death’s Head will represent a decent challenge and show Anarchy what he can expect. However Archon failed to put much fear to Anarchy. Got into peril pretty quickly and it looked like Maleph may of taken a chunk out of his neck during a flyby. Archon pitched back in looking in some discomfort. Death’s Head in control and is pretty effective when on L3O. Able to dish his FUNERAL MARCH virtually at will and it was this that finished Archon. The sickening crack of skull on the back Archon’s head was very audible. It was a knockout blow!
The Mercenaries take a battering in beating CPC Lottery by DQ. The only CPC representation at the DEIMOS PERENNIAL comes in the form of CPC Lottery. The hostility given to Vyper needs to be heard in person to be believed. We end up with the freakish scenario of the Mercenaries, longtime hated for some of their past atrocious acts, being cheered. But the cheers soon turn to gasps as Splatter swipes Vigilante with MEET ARSENAL. Immediate DQ but he doesn’t stop there. Keeps battering him with it. Soldier of Fortune tries to get in the ring but Vyper is circling with two snakes coiled around him and rearing up aggressively. All anyone can do is wait for Splatter to get bored and stop. Which happens after about five blows. The final one was a running caveman style blow. Vigilante, who was now laying face down, twitches on the impact before falling deeply unconscious. Blood seeps out the side of his mouth. Medical attention is needed after the coast was deemed to be clear. Nasty incident and everyone hoping the Commissioners will get tough on Splatter and Vyper. It’s their first big decision to make.
Anarchy puts Pollux through hell. Poor Pollux will be the first victim of Anarchy. No question it wouldn’t be a winning debut. Pollux looks a bag of nerves when Anarchy comes out. Maleph flaps around behind him. Showing no sign of trauma after the way Maleph was netted and unceremoniously dumped out of Pelf Palace at the final show of last year. This actually goes a little longer than the average Pollux match. Anarchy probably prolonging the torture to make a point although Pollux kicking out after Brymstone Bludgeon is not something he expected. Pollux pays for that big time as Anarchy ramps it up even more after that. Mercilessly the end comes after a flying gutbuster.
Cruiserweight Belt Tournament Second Round:
Ursa Major beats Lycosa by DQ decision. Both these guys barely got through their opening round. But they’d made it and had very real designs on becoming the fed’s first Cruiserweight champion. For Lycosa it could represent a very significant achievement what with holding the IP belt too. With Enigma out the way he’s the new favourite. However he inexplicably stumbled too. Maybe too over zealous in going after Ursa Major. He missed some of his death defying moves. Forced himself out the ring for some recovery time. But Ursa Major wasn’t going to let him be. Went after him and in a momentary loss of control Lycosa grabbed a chair. Only a light tap to ward Ursa Major off but it was enough to bring about his disqualification. No place for such behaviour in a Cruiserweight match. Darkos cannot believe both his guys have blown this.
Brainstorm upsets Enigma with a DQ victory. Due to the importance of the match Johnny Rocket is ringside with Brainstorm. Three’s a crowd so Maxine Babe and Darla stay in the bar to watch their man. The benefits of having Johnny at ringside over them very quickly in evidence. Enigma had the high ground and was readying some kind of spectacular leap off the top turnbuckle. Brainstorm braces himself for impact but surprisingly sees Enigma fly past him and hit the mat. A miscalculation perhaps? No, Johnny had used his mic to give a crafty unseen nudge to Enigma as he took off. The somersault needed precision and the slightest touch was always going to cause a problem. Brainstorm couldn’t believe his luck and built on this by waiting for Enigma to slowly pick himself up and executes an ambush bulldog in another move assisted by Johnny. Enigma is hurt but rolls himself out of the ring. Despite Darkos trying to convince him to concentrate on the match he goes after Johnny and gets himself disqualified for assaulting a manager. Shock defeat but fair to say Enigma was totally outsmarted.

FROM THE COMMISSIONER’S OFFICE
The new Commissioners Omega and Morpheus know that fast action against transgressions are expected. They waste no time making a public announcement in the wake of the Splatter and Vyper attack. The first action is to assure everyone that despite the serious looking nature of the incident the injuries Vigilante suffered were not as bad as thought. He suffered some bad concussion but only spent a night in hospital for observation before checking out. The prognosis is that he will miss approx a month of action (5 cards). As for punishment Morpheus issues a 1 card suspension to Splatter and Vyper and explains his reasons “people might think it should be longer. But the fact is we cannot enforce suspensions at Pelf Palace and with 2 of the next 4 cards being held there it waters down the punishment. The other thing is the Hitmen have requested they get a chance to avenge this and any long term suspension would prevent this. I have taken all that into accounts”. Omega is stood by and says nothing but seems to nod in agreement at the end.

CARD 963 – LUNA AUDITORIUM:
Wraith blows Lycosa away to reclaim the Interplanetary belt. Both guys in a pretty good place. Lycosa has surprised all by winning this belt and has aspirations to hold both the IP and Cruiserweight belts. The only blot on his copybook was the needless DQ loss to Ursa Major in the recent tournament spoiling that from happening but he may get another chance very soon. Needs to get through this tough defence first though. Wraith has received endless plaudits. Nice to hear but he reacts to all the talk that he should be leading the Genesis team instead of Max Shield based on his much greater success. Wraith angrily says “Max is and always will be our main guy. Every match he wrestles he sweats blood for this team. His tireless pursuit of the Colonizers will always have my admiration. He stands up for us all”. He then goes and delivers yet another brilliant performance. As if that anger and questioning of his best mate had spurred him on. Lycosa just didn’t get a look in. From the moment he flew at Wraith and just bounced off like hitting a brick wall there was only going to be one winner. Wraith goes straight into a run of nothing but L3O moves and about two minutes in disappears from view. Darkos panics. He knows SUDDEN DEATH is imminent and enters the ring to try and do something, anything. But Wraith remains invisible until suddenly Darkos is toppled like a domino. Lycosa rises to his feet but gets the same treatment. Wraith comes back into view and swiftly covers Lycosa to reclaim the belt.
Spike does enough to overcome Dreadnaught. Very thorough preparations. Spike got as near as you can get to a cleansing without it actually being called one. His legendary status means there is quite a bit of cheering to greet his return. Even though he is a Gladiator. Dreadnaught tries to look menacing and ready but his changed appearance is pretty obvious to the eye. Looking pretty weak compared to the last couple of years. They are just about to lock horns when something gets in the eye line of Spike. A mysterious individual in a long trench coat is skulking about in the runway trying to video the match. Spike swiftly leaves the ring to take care of that annoyance. The unnamed individual is thought to be a CPC scout trying to get a close up of Spike and compile a dossier. Spike simply grabs him by the collar and kicks him so hard down the aisle that this guy won’t be sitting down for a week. Then returns whilst rubbing hands together as if to say ‘now let’s get on with it’. But he got a bit of a surprise when he gets there. Dreadnaught starts fast and has several pin attempts in the early exchanges. Actually hitting GUIDED MISSILE on two separate occasions. Spike struggled to get to grips with him. Possibly some ring rust. Dreadnaught’s time in the ascendancy doesn’t last though. His ageing body starts to tire and Spike is able to takeover. Once in control Spike decides it’s best to just get this won and deploys MEGADESTROYER. It’s as hard hitting as it’s always been and although Dreadnaught made a kicking out effort it was all too weak and too late.
Terminus triumphs against Buck Steele by DQ. Buck still loves to fly solo. So back in singles action for this one against one of the top CPC guys. His love of boxing is well known. He enters the ring and gives an impromptu shadow boxing cameo. Terminus doesn’t bat an eyelid. Just leans casually against the ropes to watch. Then as soon as it’s over Terminus rushes at Buck and takes him down with a clothesline. Looks down at Buck as if to say ‘what was all that sh*t, this is wrestling’. Velar and Vertigo get into an argument over the actions of Terminus. It got so bad that the ref had to leave the ring to tick them off. Whilst that happens Buck is attacked by Terminus with a chair. Typical heel behaviour when a ref’s back is turned. But Buck managed to duck out the way. The chair hits the turnbuckle and springs out of the hands of Terminus. Buck manages to get it and willed on by the crowd smashes it over Terminus instead. Bad luck for him that the ref had finished admonishing Velar and Vertigo and saw this part happen. That’s the reason for the DQ. Poor Buck protests it was self defence and that Terminus had the weapon first but the decision is left to stand.
Dark Justice sees off Mutant. Lots falling upon Justice’s shoulders. Trying to continue his hardcore feud with Draconian Sheik and now having to deal with their new pet. Plus he will be thrust into a confrontation with CPC Lottery after the Mercenaries were sidelined. Can’t be the most relaxing feeling to have guys like Drac and Splatter stalking you. Justice paints a brave picture outwardly and says “I love these feuds. There’s no problem sleeping at night for me. I just dream of beating them and winning belts. Something that will soon become a reality”. At least he hasn’t got to worry about the Terrorists in this particular match. They are nowhere to be seen. Free of that tension Justice delivers the expected victory. By no means easy though. In fact the way Mutant started suggested a big upset might happen. Justice took a while to get into gear but once he does manages to keep in control. Struck SHOCK PROBATION two times in a row and that secures the win.
Thunder and Overkill defeated X-Termination. The Gladiators spent much of last year out of the tag title picture as the battle with WAR took priority. That’s now passed and it’s time to assert their domination again. X-Termination is riding high and arguably the top contenders so the Gladiators winning this could fast track them to the top again. Certainly wouldn’t want to be Sleeze or Grunge right now. The Gladiators look like they mean business and in the mood to send a message to Desolation Factor that they are biggest headbangers. There will be no treading on their toes. They succeeded in doing that. Edging a closely fought match after getting Sleeze with DECAPITATOR. Maybe they’ll be in line for a title shot after this.
Anaxis easily pinned Ms. Liberty. Not much to say about this. Anaxis finished it with CALL OF THE SIREN with barely a minute on the clock.

CARD 964 – CPC PERENNIAL – PELF PALACE:
Magnus Colby and Sonora Pelf are seated in an opulent balcony above the ring. They almost look like monarchs from their position. The CPC defections rack up ahead of this event including even key GWF backroom staff. As mentioned in the press conferences even Qualitar has abandoned the GWF but he might be regretting that as he tries to interview Paragon who arrogantly tells him “you better stop your annoying questions or soon there will be a Qualitar shaped hole in that wall”. He recovers composure to address the viewers “I must say I am excited to be doing my first gig for CPC. It’s a better clientele here. Well, better everything actually. And what about this mic, personalise diamond encrusted with fed logo. A gift from my generous employers. I love it”. The show begins with a COMMISSIONER GROGAN ANNOUNCEMENT. Centres on their current top guy, Prodigy. He controversially abdicates the Cruiserweight title citing a lack of challengers and to concentrate on defending and competing for higher titles. Commissioner Grogan announces “after long discussions with the exalted Mr. Colby and Ms. Pelf we have decided Prodigy has earned the right to focus entirely on more prestigious titles. Both the Interstellar and Heavyweight titles are options that will remain open to him. Of course he is our reigning Heavyweight champion and rightly has to prioritise this. After all it is the top prize in the cosmos. The Cruiserweight belt vacancy will soon be filled via an invitation only tournament”. Dynamo is the big loser as he had been due to face him next. He’ll now have to go through the tournament if he wants another chance to win it.
CPC Heavyweight champ, Prodigy, loses to Wolf by DQ but keeps a grip on the belt. Don’t tell anyone but Wolf has always secretly wanted this belt to punish the CPC. Except he knew they’d never give him a title shot if he just came out and demanded. So he has worked tirelessly beating members of their roster and now the chance comes. He couldn’t really be denied having destroyed Terminus. Sometimes the long way round is quicker. Prodigy is full of bullish talk though “my buddy Paragon says Wolf is overrated and beating him for the GWF belt was one of his easiest ever matches. Now he’s here causing trouble and trying to steal my belt. He won’t be able to cope with my technical excellence. He is just a one trick pony with all that brawling”. Bold speak but when his big entrance is over and Wolf come through the silk curtains running full pelt Prodigy nervously swallows. Good job Thantos was fast thinking. To him, Wolf is so predictable. He knew Wolf would come down the runway at breakneck speed and see nothing but Prodigy in the ring. Nothing else would matter. So the wily old manager Thantos moved to the foot of the runway but just out of sight. As Wolf reaches that point Thantos sticks out a leg sending him tumbling and straight into the ring steps with tremendous force. Thantos then grabs Wolf forcefully with two hands and throws him into the ring at the feet of Prodigy and says “there you go. Now he’s ready for you”. Prodigy cracks a smile and gives his manager the thumbs up. I thought this was a cool way to start and almost like giving the CPC guy a kind of home advantage. So with that in mind I gave Prodigy a starting point on L2O. Normally I just roll highest number to see who makes the first move. But if you thought that was dramatic then you hadn’t reckoned on the match itself. It was short but sweet. Prodigy seeks to take immediate advantage. Picks Wolf up by the hair and throws him against the turnbuckle with a swift knee to the groin as a follow up. Wolf staggers into the middle of the ring after this. Prodigy goes straight to the top rope for a crossbody but Wolf suddenly ignored his pain and threw him off. Decides it’s his turn to go to the top but he got thrown down too. It looked like Prodigy hadn’t learned from his last trip to the top rope as he tries again. Only this time Wolf was too hurt to react and got nailed. Next comes THE PERFECT SINGLES FINISHER but Wolf avoids being beaten by this. Prodigy now decides it’s time to hurl Wolf out of the ring where Thantos cannot resist pouncing on him. Slaps on MASTERLOCK and although Prodigy tried to occupy the ref’s attentions it’s half hearted. Even at Pelf Palace such a blatant act could not be ignored and a DQ is called. Not that Prodigy or Thantos cared. The belt was still safe and between them they’d left Wolf in a pathetic heap. A rematch is likely and the actions of Thantos might make Wolf easier to beat if and when it happens.
Mandrill overcomes Paragon to claim the GWF Heavyweight belt. Commissioner Grogan immediately sticks his nose in the match by stating “in the interests of safety, especially so after what happened earlier, Sentry will not be allowed at ringside”. Paragon oozes confidence at the best of times but with Sentry gone he’s even more confident. But his arrogant stride down the carpeted runway is rudely interrupted. Some GWF fans hiding under CPC banners manage to lob a couple of eggs which hit him. Paragon is literally standing there with egg on his face. He slowly turns crimson and shouts “right, that’s it” and attempts to wade into the crowd. Grogan knows assaulting fans would be terrible PR and rushes out to stop Paragon. He’s still got some power and manages to hold Paragon back. The fuming Paragon pushes the Commissioner off him and carries on to the ring where Mandrill was still waiting. Grogan straightens his suit jacket and dispatches security to deal with the offenders and promises camera footage would be scrutinised. Up in the gallery Sonora Pelf immediately posts to Spacebook “typical behaviour from vulgar and oafish GWF fans”. Dragonmaster on colour commentary shows quick wit to say “maybe Paragon now stinks as bad as his wrestling”. Judging by the way Paragon then performed seems that DM called it right. Aside from the first minute Paragon offered very little. Thantos cuts a frustrated figure as Mandrill gets himself on offence and never relinquished control. A Voltaic Stunner served to hamper Paragon but when Mandrill went to the top rope for a risky move the alarm bells were not actually ringing. Thantos reasoned that Mandrill isn’t the most competent aerial performer and even if he did hit it was far too early to threaten a pin. But it doesn’t prove to be the case. Mandrill did manage to connect with a crossbody and a surprise low dice roll told the story that Paragon couldn’t power out of the pin. His leg was hooked pretty tight. Mandrill leaps up and demands the official put the belt on him as soon as possible. Then he mounts a turnbuckle to goad the entire Palace in a ‘look at me’ manner. Confidently pointing towards the gallery and then down at his belt. Doesn’t bother him that this is all being done deep inside enemy territory. Everyone is just too shocked to do anything about it. Mandrill remains unchallenged and is able to do what he wants. The question is now how bad do the CPC want this belt back? With new GWF Commissioners now in place it might not be as easy as before to contest for it. Morpheus is very much of the attitude that the GWF should now start playing the CPC at its own game and favour their own wrestlers.
CPC Tag champs, Theatre of Pain, overcomes Lower World by count-out. Grogan seriously considered throwing all Brymstonians out after Blazing Skull’s actions earlier. The carnage they are all capable of causing is not something even they can turn a blind eye to. But for now the Lower World still gets to wrestle for the belts. Erebus causes alarm with his disturbing actions. Some fans shuffle back up a few rows as they feel uncomfortable. Death’s Head has always had an eerie persona. He flashes his toothy grin and enjoys the atmosphere they’ve created. Maleph is also out with them. Memories of being caught in a net and thrown out at the end of last year still fresh. It is for that reason Maleph dispenses with the usual flying about and keeps feet largely on the ground. The eeriness if quickly offset by circus sounds as Theatre of Pain makes an entrance. The gallery stands to applaud its champions and hope this match will go off with as few dramas as possible. But it’s clear that Lower World doesn’t want to play ball. Death’s Head arms himself with a skull and makes a move to smash Tragedy with it. But the somber Tragedy puts an arm up and grabs the skull before it strikes. It breaks apart under his powerful grip. He then pushes Death’s Head away and the force actually sends him right across the ring. Comedy gives off an evil cackle and flies into the action too. Trying to take down both Death’s Head, now back on his feet, and Erebus at once. The scene is all set and it’s all wonderfully chaotic. Theatre of Pain is the better team for sure. Their level of domination means Maleph cannot stay hands off. With Death’s Head on the end of SHAKESPEARE it makes moves to invade the ring. But the CPC security team is at the ready. No nets this time. Just lots of men. All dashing out from a gap in the crowd to swarm all over Maleph before he can take off. Several dive on top and Maleph amid disturbing wailing is ejected again. Meanwhile the Theatre of Pain maintains control. Erebus becomes a target and the wild creature cannot fend them off as SHAKESPEARE (again) and TEAR JERKER are deployed. It survives both these moves but a Denoumet causes Erebus to leave the ring. Hard to tell if it was voluntarily or just a clumsy fall through the ropes. It landed in a heap and was counted-out. The Brymstonian duo is barely given any recovery time. Security moves again and forces them both out of the Palace arena as quick as possible. Keen to rid the place of their kind.
CPC Interstellar champ, Colussus, ripped Dark Justice apart. With revelations in the press conferences that Bishop Hell would retire at end of the year and is only interested in facing Blazing Skull the CPC removes him from the top contender spot. Commissioner Grogan falls back to Dark Justice as next contender. Of course after what has happened a couple of hours ago it is doubtful we will see the Bishop anytime soon. Anyway to try and focus on the match. It’s the first outing of Colussus as a CPC guy. He had been moving towards a darker side for a while but it’s still pretty shocking. Justice vows to punish Colussus for his betrayal. Colussus thinks Justice is a hypocrite given his own shady past. Once again no Mercenaries presence at ringside due to injuries but they probably wouldn’t of been allowed anyway. Justice needs to be wary as this is the main playground of new enemies Splatter and Vyper. They could easily strike at anytime with the new lottery. Colussus wrestles with real aggression. Desperate to make a good start in front of his new bosses. Justice just can’t handle it. Eventually reduced to a bloody mess as he had to take countless finishing attempts from Colossus. The new ability to replicate anyone’s move in evidence as Justice has to kick out of a DEFENDER CANNON as well his own SHOCK PROBATION. But it was a ROBOTIC DEATHBLOW that actually got him pinned. He was hit with that probably 3 or 4 times in all. Just shows how much punishment he had to endure. Colussus takes his belt back and finds the nearest camera in which to scream “Are you watching Pegasus? How about you Star Warrior and Heracles? I should of done this sooner. Long live the CPC!” His new manager, Thantos, proudly stands a couple of feet back and pats him on the back. Even for someone of his high standards he must of been impressed.
Velar controversially overcomes Supernova to win the CPC ladies belt via questionable reffing from Scourge. Velar queue jumps. Cassandra gets stiffed as she was in line for a rematch only to get told this was never a guarantee by the Commissioner. Supernova was ill prepared for this last minute switch but tries to make the best of it and wrestle energetically. Although she was a bit taken aback at the sight of Thantos at ringside. He’s never done this before with Velar. Poor Supernova was the victim of several terrible calls by the ref. Everytime she questioned Scourge he claimed because whatever happened was on his left side he couldn’t possibly see it. A clear taster of what we can expect of his officiating. Anyway Supernova does her best and even evades being pinned after HAMMERLOCK SLAM despite a fast count from Scourge. But she comes under constant bombardment after this and a Velar Vertical Suplex leaves her looking about ready to be pinned. Except Velar just kicks her under the rope right where Thantos was stood. Supernova slowly recovers to stand but gasps as she realises where she is. It’s the first time Supernova had been so close to Thantos. He walks up and stares right into her eyes “striking family resemblance. You’ve got one of those faces people just want to hit. Much like your brat siblings”. She cowers as he lifts a hand. No Star Warrior to look out for her as he is suspended. Nor Commander Sam as he’d only been allowed to be ringside for one match and had chosen to accompany Pegasus. Thantos laughs as he then feints and runs said hand through what little hair remains on his head. Supernova now runs off and doesn’t bother to take the belt with her. Velar lustfully takes possession and declares finders keepers. Scourge raises her hand as the winner. From the gallery Commissioner Grogan stands up to address the crowd and cameras. He ratifies the title switch even though an actual pin didn’t take place. It got worse for Supernova. She got herself into a bit of a state and was sobbing in a quiet corner of the opulent changing area. Reports that Velar stumbled across her and decided to give her one last close up of the belt by smashing it over her head. Supernova had to be treated for injuries before she could finally be reunited with family members. Mercifully the injury was minor at just a single card.
CPC Rising defeats Aethran Dominance in a Titan Death match. What a match. The CPC is wasting no time in getting the feud between the Penthouse Suite and Gladiators going. It’s the sort of feud that pulls in the viewers for sure. But there is also an element of risk. The Gladiators are well capable of riding roughshod over the organisation and damaging the brand. Putting that aside the commentary team wonders if even a team as obviously talented as the Matador and Janus could stop a team of this power? It is very obvious Malice is subservient to his mentor, Spike. Following his every command. The student and teacher were working well together. However CPC Rising is a pretty seasoned team by now. It may not be their favoured discipline but they are able to weather the storm and claim a pretty significant hard fought victory. The Matador getting the better of Malice via BULLWHIP. Despite the win Janus still gets it in the neck from his manager. He nearly cost them dearly in the opening minutes as Spike caught him with a Deadly Decapitator. An old man like Spike shouldn’t be seen to be whipping his ass like that. How long will Janus carry on with this CPC charade? He’s slipping low down the pecking order. Is all the money worth it?
Painmaster makes a huge comeback to beat Heracles in a Castor Chain match. The ultimate snub to Chaos. The CPC books Heracles to face one of the Colonizers instead. Guess his personal battleground to take the Colonizers on is destined to be in the GWF only. Magnus Colby and Sonora Pelf believe Chaos is yesterday’s news and show little interest in the piddling feud over who is the top villain. Heracles is still loyal to Chaos though and comes here with the intention of putting damage onto Painmaster. In his words “I will destroy the pointy eared freak and help shatter the confidence of his deluded monkey leader. Chaos will then finish them all off. I could of left the Stormtroopers long ago but they are still the most powerful team in the cosmos and Chaos is still the top guy even without the Alpha Stone”. He then backs this up by battering Painmaster. Puts 8 tokens on him without reply using a mix of the chain and his powerful OLYMPIA finisher. But he just cannot finish Painmaster off. Then makes a huge mistake of going to the top to execute a failing fist with the chain wrapped around his knuckles and misses. Everyone winces as this happens. Painmaster is given a lifeline and acts on it. Using the chain to tie Heracles to the turnbuckle post and just offloading with a barrage of moves. Then unwraps Heracles who staggers straight into a Painmaster Stretch Bomb to seal his defeat. Early days but so far the Colonizers are easily winning the feud with the Stormtroopers.
Vengeance adapts better than Mayhem to win a first ever Cygnus Adamantium Fists match. Vengeance comes to the Palace to face Mayhem in a dangerous new match. Vengeance dons his glove and wickedly suggests Mayhem is going down and this time for good “you just won’t stay gone. This time it will be your biggest ever mistake. You were already blacklisted as a traitor of Aethra but joining the CPC has now signed your death warrant”. Of course Mayhem isn’t concerned by such threats. He’s too excited to get his teeth into a new hardcore match to care. It’s a wonderfully bloody affair. Initially Mayhem gets the best hits in with the metal glove but Vengeance fights back. His famed Eye Cleaver does a great job of wearing out bullying opponents and it works here. Although his wicked moves do get disrupted with a LEAP OF DOOM (+5). Normally that would finish anyone off but with a ten count needed in this match type it’s enough time to recover. Mayhem cannot follow up on this and Vengeance getting a second wind starts to really do some damage. A burst of dangerous moves one after the other, Gladiator Piledriver, HELTER SKELTER and Eye Cleaver again enough to put Mayhem down long enough to steal the win.
Pegasus sends Terminus packing. Thank god for Commander Sam. Pegasus was in danger of becoming a one man band what with Star Warrior suspended, Alpha Force missing and Colussus having joined the enemy. He could of been a sitting duck at a venue like this. No doubt his eyes will soon be on Paragon but this would be a toughie. Terminus is wounded by his feud with Wolf not going well but he recently defeated Buck Steele. Following that by beating Pegasus will repair much of that damage. His stock will be on the rise again. Of course this is big for Pegasus too. Licking his wounds after the Malice defeat. Two big losses in a row will be tough to take. The atmosphere at the Palace has always been a strange one what with the majority of clientele being famous or wealthy but there is scattered booing of Pegasus. But this is quickly muffled by polite applause. Even from the gallery. All just for show of course. Sadly the match isn’t great. In fact for two guys held in such esteem it’s pretty damned poor. Possibly worst of the show. Very little going on for long periods as they cancel each other out. Even the winning move lacked any razzmatazz. A Pegasus Press Slam seemed to wind Terminus and he got pinned from it. With the job done Sam quickly shepherds Pegasus away. He doesn’t trust Thantos or any the CPC mob. Last thing he wants is to let down Star Warrior and have Pegasus returning back to camp injured.
Bishop Hell is hospitalised in beating Blazing Skull by DQ. A much awaited hardcore match barely lasts a couple of minutes when Blazing’s head explodes in close proximity to Bishop Hell. The glow is akin to the synthetic kind but it still burns Bishop Hell causing near catastrophic injuries. The heat from the furnace is felt several rows back in the crowd before shutters come up all around the ring. Medics spend a few seconds waiting before they are clear to enter to the enclosed ring. When it all finally comes up Bishop Hell is on a stretcher heavily bandaged and rushed for emergency treatment. There is also lots of debris to be cleared as a chandelier high above the ring was rocked by the explosion and came crashing down in the ring. Mercifully it missed everyone. Blazing himself looks wobbly as he leaves the scene of devastation. He is laughing but taking some giddy steps. Nobody wants to go anywhere near him after that. Even Maleph flaps around several feet behind him. The match outcome for what it’s worth was a DQ win for the Bishop but that will bring zero comfort to him. More in the news section on this shocking incident.
Mad Jester defeats Jack of Diamonds by DQ. It is crazy that at the DEIMOS PERENNIAL the Defender of the Realm returned to the GWF on the side of the heroes but now becomes Mad Jester again to face Jack of Diamonds. Jack is more than happy to keep facing Jester in this strange situation. He hopes by beating Jester as much as possible it would rid Defender of this split persona once and for all “I am doing this out of my love for my dear friend Defender. Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind”. Of course there remains the possibility that the Defender side will be stronger tonight and throw the match into doubt. But the moment psychotic laughing is heard echoing in the plush corridors it is pretty obvious who will step out. Jack braces himself for a chaotic match. It goes on a very long time. Most of the best moves coming from Jack but despite DIAMOND CUT a couple times he cannot get it won and is controversially disqualified for his part in a brawl. Jester got injured during it but seemed to throw himself into the ring steps. Jack was annoyed on hearing the decision but decides to tentatively offer his hand to Jester to help him up and audibly says “Defender, my friend, are you in there?”. Jester pauses before swatting his hand away and limping off. Finds a hole in the crowd barriers and disappears among them. His crazy laugh getting feinter and feinter. Jester is injured for 1 card after this.
Desolation Factor stumbles to a winning debut over Awesome Studs. The Studs are the designated sacrificial lambs. They might be cursing their new manager, Reynard B. Guile, for agreeing to this but it is what it is. Vanity, being the creature of habit that he is, still has to do his hip swivelling and general playing up to the ladies. He’s not going to have a quiet return. Brave considering the imposing Rack and Ruin are mere feet away. They quickly tire of watching this nonsense and roar into action. Vanity is so lightweight against Desolation Factor he ends up pinballing round the ring. B. Guile shouts out to Doomsayer “tell them to go easy” but he simply gets a “you can’t tell me what to do. You’re not the Commissioner anymore”. It all looks so easy but when Rack missed a turnbuckle smash suddenly starts to go wrong. Vanity, assisted by B. Guile, even then used LADIES CHOICE but we never got to see if it would of been successful as Doomsayer distracted. From then on Desolation Factor huffs and puffs. They need a huge piece of assistance to get the win. Rack again in trouble as Dynamo gets him in ELONGATION. Doomsayer, far busier than he ever anticipated, has to intervene again. The distracting of both the referee and B. Guile allows Ruin to come in and plant a boot into Dynamo and also kick Vanity, pulling from outside the ring, backwards into barriers. Rack picks himself up and uses the singles version of RACKED AND RUINED to then beat Dynamo. A winning start but a stuttering performance. The Gladiators, if they were watching, will fear nothing.
Monad beats Gila easily. Gila takes the fight to Doomsayer and his immoral Transevolver. He is being given little hope but maybe with his new bestest bud, Mollock, at his side he can upset Monad. The CPC lifts restrictions on the hulking behemoth at Doomsayer’s request. Beating Gila would be even more enjoyable if there are no handicaps. Maybe he’ll regret that as after Monad needs little more than a minute after a Quadrasuplex it all happens. Mollock gets all protective and goes after Monad. Takes more than four arms to stop him. Monad is powerfully thrown from the ring and then Gila is scooped up and carried to safety like some kind of damsel in distress. The feud chart said an attack that results in a tag match but that didn’t feel appropriate to write for this. But maybe I’ll use the booking idea. Seeing as Desolation Factor is part of Monad’s team maybe I’ll have them face Hunters of Prey next as a spin off from this.
The Creeper beats Mutant by DQ. An old favourite to kick things off. The Creeper nearly got it won on a pin after ELIMINATOR but has to settle for a DQ victory. This due to Mutant going wild during a brawl.

Latest News:
He may have a lot of controversial baggage but Johnny Rocket’s popularity is on the rise again in GWF circles. He is taking it to the CPC and his old sparring mate Qualitar. The two of them actually brawled at DEIMOS PERENNIAL when Qualitar had the audacity to start conducting interviews and bad mouthed several wrestlers. Johnny gets in his face on the live feed and proclaims “by the time I’m done you won’t be able to interview wrestlers. All you’ll be good for is sweeping the ring. That’s if the GWF will have you back”. Johnny then bravely tried the same thing at the CPC PERENNIAL but was refused entry. But Johnny still has his finger on the pulse. He was outside the Palace conducting interviews as they arrived at the special transport points. As they beamed in Johnny was there getting the scoop. It was like an underground report and most of the GWF guys were happy to speak to him whilst refusing official interviews with Qualitar. Although the CPC got them back by issuing fines for not fulfilling contractual media obligations.
Brainstorm makes history as the first ever GWF Cruiserweight champion. A surprise considering the likes of Lycosa and Enigma were in the tournament. He is being pretty insufferable as the champ. Bragging that he is the greatest thing since sliced bread and that this is the step towards his inevitable greatness.
Blade is ready to step in the ring with Anarchy. Archon thinks it’s a bad idea and tells the youngster “let me deal with him”. Blade tells Archon “I’m taking this match with or without your blessing”. Maybe a little dissension? But the truth is Blade has courage in bucketloads. Archon can’t help being so protective. Feels it is his duty to look after Crossfire’s kid brother.
Blazing Skull shocked the cosmos with what he did to Bishop Hell. There isn’t huge sympathy for the Bishop. Without glossing over the details Blazing delivered an intense explosion out of his head causing severe burn injuries to the Bishop. Eerily similar to what happened to Crossfire except this was a synthetic fire. Still dangerous but if had been real fire the consequences could of been even more catastrophic. As it was the Bishop had to be stretchered from the scene and was immediately hospitalised. His reaction upon regaining consciousness was to announce his retirement from wrestling. Once he heals in a few months Bishop Hell will return to the ring for a series of revenge matches before hanging up his hood for good. He isn’t ruling out one last meeting with Pulsar either. It really is the proverbial passing of the torch as Blazing becomes the new fire god of the wrestling universe.
Morpheus makes a bold step and contacts the Gladiators to seek assurances they will not join the CPC in the future. Felt it was worth pursuing but didn’t really expect any answers. Surprisingly Brute from a rubble strewn battlefield somewhere on Aethra broadcasts a message back that the Gladiators are not taking sides during the conflict. They will do whatever they please but their aim is dominate wrestling no matter the time or place. Omega and Morpheus meet and decide an approach of doing very little is the best way of managing this situation. At the moment the Gladiators are loosely feuding with the CPC and it could escalate into something quite big. They may end up indirectly helping the GWF in the long run.
Morpheus was also in the news as he reacted to the violent attack by Splatter and Vyper on Vigilante at DEIMOS PERENNIAL. Mixed reaction as the suspension of 1 card was seen as way too lenient but there was respect for the way he explained the reasons. A degree of transparency from the GWF offices that hasn’t been seen in a long, long time. Expect things to get pretty heated between CPC Lottery and the Mercenaries in the wake of all this. Dark Justice might find himself drawn into this conflict too.
Just one month in and the Colonizers have upped the ante in their takeover. Mandrill took possession of the GWF Heavyweight belt and then declares a ‘if you’re not with us you’re against us mantra’. Apart from the Gladiators they are prepared to feud with any villain GWF team that doesn’t support them. So far all teams, aside from the Stormtroopers of course, are playing ball. Even the Brymstonians. Nobody dares to oppose them. However a big test is incoming that will bring possible conflict with the Gladiators as his first title defence will be against Malice. The young Gladiator has been on a hell of a run. The new Commissioners were rubbing their hands together at the thought of such a match being booked because it could easily stifle Mandrill’s ambitions. As much as they want the GWF to regain its lofty status they don’t want an all powerful villain lording it up in much the same way as Thantos did over a decade ago. Mandrill will certainly be busy and nobody can accuse him of ducking big matches as he will also face traditional feud enemies Max Shield and Blizzard in non-title bouts. The latter of which is a first ever Scorpi King of the Ring match. Something Mandrill himself has created as a way of showing his superiority. It’s pretty unique and we will soon see why.
INJURED – Supernova (1), Defender/Mad Jester (1), Vigilante (3), Skinhead (7), Bishop Hell (15); SUSPENDED – none
WRESTLER OF THE MONTH:
MALICE - After the first month of the year everyone is jockeying for position but Malice made the biggest statement by taking down Pegasus. He is suddenly emerging into a force again. Aside from a DQ stumble to Ursa Major he has now beaten Mayhem, Raven and Pegasus in his last 4 bouts.
TAG TEAM OF THE MONTH:
REBEL EMPIRE - Slow tag teaming month. Other things have taken greater share of the spotlight. Although the way Rebel Empire played the first move in the Colonizer-Stormtroopers chess match deserves recognition. They beat Chaos and Heracles pretty convincingly and set in motion a very successful few weeks for the Colonizers.

FED FLASHBACK
EPISODE 12 – THE LAW GOES TO WAR – RIGEL NOVA PAVILLION:
Johnny Rocket back on hosting duties. This used to be Qualitar’s gig. The date is circa 2094. This was a 2 parter featuring 12 matches but only 6 got put in the spotlight … Johnny: “Welcome all. The GWF finally saw sense and put me back as your host. Hidden gems continue to come out the archives. I remember pirate copies existing at the time but they were so poor quality could barely tell what was going on. This showing has been more than cleared up, it is in full SUPER HD 128k res. Anyway I’m here with Lance At-Las. The main focus here was on a couple of guys. Commander Sam ‘sporting’ a quirky gimmick and Galactic Punisher doing one of his tireless pursuits of villains. Every now and then he’d pick a team to go after. On this occasion he was going after Doomsayer and the Galactic Rebels after the controversial revealing of the Transevolver and what it did to Dreadnaught, Soldier of Fortune and Doomsday Creature” … Lance: “Doomsayer was a flawed genius in my eyes. There is no doubt he was and still is capable of great things. But look at what his machine has done to Reptillo. And of course Dreadnaught. I saw Dreadnaught against Spike recently and couldn’t believe the decline. He doesn’t look good to me. Problem with Galactic Punisher is he wanted to go after everyone. Plenty of guys under surveillance but he never saw anything through as there were constant distractions. Krakan, Thantos, Bishop Hell, Bounty Hunter and the Gladiators were all targeted but not a single one was truly brought to justice” … Johnny: “I agree. We will see how this all plays out but before we move to the matches would you care to tell us if you are coming back to wrestling and on which side you will be?” … Lance: “Am sorry I cannot comment too much. I’ve got the wrestling itch but it’s far too complicated to divulge anything” … Johnny: “Ok. But there is a place on the Rocket Men, sorry New FDF, if you want it. Just give me a call and we’ll talk” … Lance: “I’ll take a rain check on that” … Johnny: (frustrated face) “Let’s roll the tape”.
Sporty Sam runs riot against Bounty Hunter. Johnny: “This is a collector’s item. For a short while Commander Sam, on dark shows, was trying out an American Football gimmick. Kind of a coach/player hybrid and calling himself Sporty Sam. Blowing whistles and shouting things like ‘Let’s hustle’. He even carried a football with him which sometimes got thrown at the opponent’s head. Another time he went down the hockey route and wore a hockey mask. The stick becoming a weapon this time. To say the gimmick didn’t catch on was an understatement. I’m sure there is even footage of him swinging a baseball bat as a weapon too as Slugger Sam but that hasn’t seen the light of day. Sam and the GWF tried to hush it up as much as possible and were rumoured to of destroyed the tapes. But all these years later attitudes have changed and the tapes do actually see the light of day. Everyone can laugh about it now” … Lance: “Sam’s a pretty eccentric guy sometimes. I guess that’s why Mesmer was able to have such a mind altering effect on him a few years ago. This is pretty cringeworthy stuff. Some of the youngsters in the crowd enjoyed it but for the most part the fans were unimpressed. They paid their money to see the good old patriotic flag waving Sam” … Johnny: “It was a bit ridiculous. Especially at a time when Sam was showing his age in the ring and should of been winding down. Another guy who was unimpressed was his opponent, Bounty Hunter, who was feuding with Massif at the time. Especially when Sam threw a football at him” … Lance: “Oh now I remember. Reynard B. Guile appeared on tv at one point with an unexplained black eye and wouldn’t divulge the origin. It must of been from this because Bounty Hunter skilfully dodged and it cannoned into B. Guile’s face” … Johnny: “He still recovered enough to try and affect the result. Interfering like crazy to help Bounty Hunter out especially after SAM’S ATOMIC DROP” … Lance: “Lame gimmick aside Sam was in great form here. Whilst Bounty Hunter wasn’t at the races. Sam went for his finisher three times in all. Given his age I fully expected him to run out of steam but he just kept going and eventually got the deserved win after a reverse backbreaker. Great outcome”.
Cosmic Forces downed New Order. Johnny: “Everyone was looking forward to seeing New Order. They’d made quite the impact on entering the GWF and taking it to the Gladiators but Galactic Punisher ruined this” … Lance: “Yes. Galactic Punisher randomly shows up to demand the Cosmic Forces abide by the Galactic law and accompany him. Of course they refuse but we did get a unique scene. Galactic Punisher cop pursuit out of the arena. Jumps into a police hover vehicle and chased down the Cosmic Forces who had commandeered a cab. Throughout the rest of the show a drone feeds back footage of this whole thing. It all begun after Galactic Punisher uncovered contraband in the locker room. Some brass knuckles right where the Cosmic Forces had been lurking. He confiscated them. But that wasn’t enough. He wanted to take it further” … Johnny: “Well you should know as you were there. The chase didn’t go too well for Galactic Punisher though. He ended up crashing into a shop. Thankfully empty and then it turned out the vehicle he wrote off wasn’t even his. What a hypocrite” … Lance: “No wonder this was hushed up. I guess this was not long before his heel turn to Vigilante so it’s not a total surprise this happened” … Johnny: “Yep in hindsight not a surprise. Anyway to summarise the match. Remember there was one? The Cosmic Forces were mostly on top. Mace had been on the end of a few hefty moves but was holding his own. Then Galactic Punisher starts to head down the runway. Everyone looked distracted by this including Mace but not Antimatter. He took advantage to hit NEGATIVE CHARGE and grab the pin. Rather than react both members of New Order along with Destructon 3000 just departed in disgust and left Galactic Punisher to it. That’s when all the post match drama started”.
Doomsday Creature devours Galactic Punisher. Johnny: “Serpent Unman was in an even more feral state after going through the Transevolver. The first time we all saw the Doomsday Creature was terrifying. So out of control and a huge increase in body mass. Who could ever of imagined this is what Reptillo would become when he entered the GWF in late 2087. He was such a mild mannered and friendly chap back then” … Lance: “This must of taken place before that cop chase. Galactic Punisher actually thought he could get cuffs on this thing. But got flung off immediately and Doomsday Creature then starts having a mad one” … Johnny: “Definitely a bad move to wind this thing up straight away. I didn’t actually think the match would even get started as anything that wasn’t nailed down started getting flung around. Even Doomsayer struggled to show any control over his creation and almost got knocked out of his floating chair” … Lance: “Somehow it did get started though and Galactic Punisher got more than he bargained for” … Johnny: “That’ll teach him. It was a mighty long match though. Galactic Punisher dished most of his best moves and tried to pass LIFE SENTENCE but Doomsday Creature just kept coming and eventually overwhelmed him” … Lance: “It was pretty brutal in the end. Doomsday Creature just perpetually chomping on Punisher with DINNERTIME. By the third and final time there was a fair amount of blood” … Johnny: “Shame it didn’t calm Galactic Punisher down. He was still determined to cause trouble at this show”.
King Lear rules against Ursa Major. Johnny: “All hail the King” … Lance: “Indeed. Exo-King was in the wilderness a bit so the change of gimmick did some good. He shed those toxic implants and switched to being King Lear and became hugely popular. His original look returned years later but he kept his heroic values. The guy is a true legend and his current health problems are worrying to hear about. I hope he can recover fully” … Johnny: “Yes hopefully he can. Here he was taking on Ursa Major in a squash match. Poor Ursa was cannon fodder for the stars back then. Spent many years taking defeat after defeat. But the Titans saw something in him and he is much better now. He’s not my cup of tea though. Too much of a goody two shoes. All the Titans are” … Lance: “Don’t let Pulsar hear you say that. He’s still a Titan at heart and would think nothing of going all hardcore on you” … Johnny: “Oh would you look at that. Ursa Major bows before the King. What a dork. King Lear trying to show he is a very different man and telling him to cut that out. But then just goes and clobbers him” … Lance: “It’s a wrestling match. What he’s supposed to do? I actually thought Ursa did okay here” … Johnny: “Actually your right. Ursa Major lasted out for about 5 minutes. He even got a couple of offensive moves in at the start but there was never any danger of an upset. King Lear just patiently waited for the right moment with His Majesty’s Mauler sealing the win. Shame we didn’t see his finisher THE CORONATION. I remember it as being quite spectacular. Maybe he held it back because he was facing Ursa Major and didn’t want to risk really hurting the youngster”.
Vanity claims a rare victory over Sectarian. Johnny: “OMG. Vanity has never ever changed. And he keeps getting banished but keeps coming back” … Lance: “He’s getting old now but still thinks he’s gods gift. I remember one show backstage I could see him talking. As I got closer I thought he was hitting on someone. Could hear him saying ‘your amazing. I could just gobble you all up’. Naturally I was curious as to who the poor object of his desire was. Couldn’t stop laughing when I realised he was in front of a mirror!” … Johnny: “Well I was hoping his pretty face wouldn’t look too good after Sectarian had finished with him but alas Vanity slimed his way to victory” … Lance: “Good old Sectarian. Shame it never worked out for him in the fed but those barbaric Renegades found him out I guess. Still he had a bit of a cult following and had a few good results in his first few months. Sadly this wasn’t one of them” … Johnny: “Have to admit this is one of the best matches I’ve ever seen Vanity wrestle. Without Sweet Thing, not sure where Mr. Galaxy was, his offence was pretty toothless. Unable to pull off his sneaky LADIES CHOICE but he found a whole host of other moves. The winning move, a skullcracker, very unlike him”.
Greek Gods beat Meteor Storm by DQ. Johnny: “I’d forgotten what a couple of dorks these guys were” … Lance: “Yes, Meteor Storm was a joke tag team” … Johnny: “No I mean the Greek Gods. They actually thought ancient wrestling had a place in the GWF. So overrated” … Lance: “Hey watch it, they were good friends of mine. They are one of the most legendary teams of all time” … Johnny: “Okay calm down. I was just horsing around” … Lance: “Speaking of horses. Meteor Storm came riding down on some. I remember one dark show where one of them fell off and got his foot caught in the stirrup. Shame it’s not this one” … Johnny: “I think that’s happened more than once. Anyway it’s a predictably one-sided match. The Gods play with them a while before Proteus looks to finish off Black Hole Bart” … Lance: “Bart wouldn’t give them the satisfaction of a clean victory though. Like a coward he desperately bails outside. Grabs a horseshoe and tried to belt Proteus with it which drew the DQ” … Johnny: “Luckily he was so clumsy he missed and ended up striking the ring post instead causing great pain to himself. Actagon decided to get involved now. Picks Bart up and hurls him into the onrushing Astro Turk. Both were left in a pathetic heap. One of the horses tethered to the post then proceeds to dump on them. That was hilarious”.
OTHER MATCHES … Rogue defeats Star Warrior by DQ. “Unexpectedly tough for Star Warrior. Not helped by Scourge running interference and then missing his feared COSMIC BIG BANG. Fortunately he recovered and hit his finisher 3 more times but a mix of a miraculous kick out and saves by Scourge kept things going. Star Warrior ended up getting so frustrated he dragged Scourge into the ring and did the move on him. The crowd loved it but the ref not so much as he called a disqualification” … Soldier of Fortune pinned the Guardsman. “All too easy for the newly humanoid SOF. He absorbed some early offence from the Guardsman. Picks his moment and then uses THE REVENGER to finish. The Guardsman had been appearing at ringside less and less at the time. Little did we know at the time but he was on the verge of being liberated” … Tendron goes over Massif. “Have to say this was a bit of an upset. I expected Massif to be too strong but he was a bit out of sorts. Found THE SMOTHERING too much to handle. I suppose it highlighted Massif’s general career. A big star but just too inconsistent to be bracketed with the very top stars” … Count Necros beat Terak. “Decent contest. All very even until Count Necros administers a bite to the back of the neck. Seems to induce some kind of temporary paralysis as Terak is easily pinned off the back of that. Necros got plenty of heat from the crowd. His eerie persona spooked a lot of the kids” … Justice embarrassed Brute. “Well known that Justice was suffering problems with Galactic Punisher but he puts that to one side to shine in singles. A Judicial Forearm stopped Brute in little more than a minute. He would of cringed as much as anyone over the forthcoming antics of his partner” … Death Masque crushed Trainer Jim. “Novelty match for the tape. Jim on rare occasions liked to step in the ring. Often unsuccessfully. This was no exception. He was on the end of THE MELTDOWN after being pounded relentlessly for a couple of minutes”.

CARD 965 – TRITON PAVILLION:
Blizzard stuns Mandrill in a Scorpi King of the Ring, the title wasn’t on the line. Mandrill brings a new match to show his dominance. Blizzard practically begged Vertigo to be the one to face him. Vertigo relents but wants to get Frozen Fury back in gear so the team doesn’t lose its momentum after such a successful previous year. Although after the outcome he might have a tough time convincing Blizzard to go back. The youngster will think he can achieve great things as he rises to the occasion and defeats Mandrill. From the moment it began Blizzard was up for it. Giving Mandrill no time to breathe and racking the tokens up. But you’re never going to have it all your own way against Mandrill. There was a period of a few minutes where he seemed to level up after a MUTANT MAULER and Prime Piledriver rattled Blizzard. At this point everyone was expecting Mandrill to keep control and move towards an expected victory. However Blizzard wasn’t about to blow his big chance. Gets an adrenaline surge and launches a huge second wave of offence that Mandrill cannot cope with. There were many diversions out of the ring but Blizzard won all those brawls. He then took an opportunistic shot with ICE ATTACK. No DQ worries in this match type. Hits Mandrill right in the noggin. That set in motion a big chance to actually win this. Buoyed by the hit it doesn’t take Blizzard long to unleash another and this time it’s the killer blow. Mandrill drops to his knees and then slumps forwards. Wasting no time Blizzard grabs Mandrill by the fur on his shoulders and pitches him over the top rope. Mandrill doesn’t go over straight away. Making a pathetic attempt to resist but he’s too weak to hold out for long. Blizzard goes low down and gives him a leg over that results in Mandrill plummeting to the floor below. The entire crowd counts along with the ref before bursting into a cacophony of noise as he reaches 10. In truth the ref could of counted to 100 and Blizzard would still of won. Will be interesting to see where this goes now for Blizzard. His singles ranking would of received a huge boost on the back of this. The aftermath sees the Colonizer camp stay very quiet. In recent weeks they have been very noisy bragging about their plans and dominating telecasts. It was nice to see them silenced. Maybe Mandrill is trying to pretend this never happened and move on to the next challenges.
Manslaughter battered a lethargic Wraith to take possession of the Interplanetary title. So often in the shadow of the Ninja Assassins, Lycosa and Enigma it’s now the turn of Manslaughter. Can he show his value to Darkos by capturing this belt and bringing it back into the Masked Assassins team so soon after Lycosa lost it? The chance is unexpected to be sure but with so many belts littering the wrestling landscape he didn’t have to do too much to earn the shot on this occasion. Darkos certainly gives him a good starting point. Let’s Manslaughter head up the runway alone whilst waiting by the entrance. As soon Wraith emerges Darkos explodes a paint bomb. Both Wraith and Vertigo are showered with a luminous yellow paint. It’s not the first time someone has pulled a stunt to nullify Wraith’s invisibility but it was well executed. They cannot believe they’ve been had but there is not much they can do now. That paint won’t wash off easily. Wraith needs to get his focus back but maybe that stunt did unsettle him because he finds himself under constant pressure. Although he survives SNAP, CRACK, POP countless times and accumulates 7 tokens mostly to that move alone he cannot afford to keep getting caught. Unfortunately nothing he does works and Manslaughter keeps punishing him with his painful finisher until finally it works. Unbelievably the belt switches hands and is back in the Masked Assassin camp.
Penthouse Suite sweeps the New FDF in an 8 Man Battlezone match. The first proper link up of Terak and Johnny. Bringing their teams together in Battlezone action. It’s strictly a professional relationship and they only appear at ringside with their ‘own guys’. Ever the opportunist Johnny thrusts his guys into the pivotal roles. From Savage Kingdom only Wildcat features whilst Brainstorm and X-Termination represent the Rocket Men. They aren’t given much chance against the Penthouse Suite which is stacked with stars. Janus, the Matador, Colussus and Terminus are all rolled out. The other members, Paragon and Prodigy, said the match was beneath them and declared themselves as unavailable. But even without them they are still incredibly strong and prove it with a dominating win. Match summaries as follows … Colussus was barely troubled against Brainstorm. First out the hat are Brainstorm and Colussus. Short and one-sided. Strange choice of moves from Colussus as we saw him use KILLER AIR GUITAR (Grunge), IRON HAND (Daeman) and ROBOTIC DEATHBLOW. The last of which led to the pin … Colussus takes care of Wildcat. The size of the task for the new FDF was already a big one and made even greater by this loss. Colussus pounded Wildcat with ROBOTIC DEATHBLOW three times. The Penthouse Suite still with a full house and Colussus looking fresh as a daisy … Colussus eliminated Sleeze by count-out. Finally a tough match for Colussus but he still comes through token free. Poor Sleeze, on the other hand, has 6 of them by the time he just collapses outside of the ring. It’s no surprise. He’d felt the effects of his own finisher, ROBOTIC DEATHBLOW x2 and also FIELDS OF MALICE during his time against Colussus … Colussus single handedly secures victory for his team by seeing off Grunge. Gets tougher still for Colussus but he comes through. Quite a bit happens but the main highlight was when Colussus uses KILLER AIR GUITAR. Grunge no sells it and almost immediately shows Colussus how to do it properly. So nearly a pin there. In fact Grunge is doing really well and looked close to ending the run of Colussus. Until he bodged a deathjump. It’s quite often overlooked how agile Colussus is. He manages to roll through the crossbody that comes his way and with a handful of tights, just to give it the classic heel gloss, holds on for the pin. Thantos claps approvingly at the feat. It will be appreciated that none of the others had to get their hands dirty. Johnny Rocket doesn’t take the defeat too well and fires off a load of verbal through the mic aimed at Thantos and the CPC. But Thantos laughs it off. He knows Johnny would never dare to physically confront him.
The Stormtroopers frustrate Rebel Empire on their way to a DQ victory. Having dealt with Chaos and Heracles the struggling Stormtroopers of Powerhouse and Hammer shouldn’t pose a problem to Rebel Empire. But they need to use this as a springboard to finally go on and win the tag belts. It is remarkable they haven’t managed that yet. Surely another win here will put them back among the top contenders. With all due respect to the current champions, the Centaurians, they are seen as very beatable. So with all this considered it makes this match pretty vital to the Colonizer team. However they stumble to a damaging DQ loss. All born out of frustration. They just don’t get things their own way and the Stormtroopers show a surprising resistance. Especially Hammer who was wrestling well above his perceived ability. Even getting the powerful Vendetta in HAMMER’S LOCK at one point. The hold was easily broken but it was a worrying sign. With things not going so well inside the ring Rebel Empire starts to resort to bullying and brawling tactics. Nefarus perpetually pitches Hammer out of the ring but he just keeps coming back. The ref warns Nefarus to cut it out but gets a shove for the intrusion. On seeing this Cassandra screams for the DQ and the ref, who was picking himself up, obliges. Nefarus naturally goes mad at the decision and Vendetta looks as if he might assault the ref. Coincidentally on the back wall, where ads and backstage stuff are beamed onto, a hologram flashes in his eyeline. It’s an image of Morpheus with speech bubble ‘zero tolerance to violence against referees’. Part of his stamp it out campaign. Seems to resonate with Vendetta who unclenches his fist and gives the ref a friendly pat. Rebel Empire now leaves with Sentry in tow. The Stormtroopers celebrate like they’ve won the titles. Guess they need to make the most of it with wins in such short supply these past few years.
Splatter battered Dark Justice. With the Mercenaries sidelined Justice aims to seek revenge on their behalf starting with this match. He is perturbed to see Vyper skulking around. An official tried to send him away but when a snake slithers out from within Vyper’s suit he freaks out and abandons. After Vyper is allowed to stay it is all downhill for Justice. He is endlessly bothered by this and fails to fully concentrate on Splatter. A very dangerous thing indeed and he pays the price by getting swiped with MEET ARSENAL. Easy pin for Splatter after that. Vyper then enters the ring. With Splatter holding Justice down a huge python is unbagged and allowed to go all over Justice. He screams through the whole ordeal and Splatter announces to crowd that Justice has wet himself. All very humiliating. They leave laughing. It takes a while for Justice to compose himself after this but when he does grabs a mic and makes a public challenge to Vyper to face him at Pelf Palace.
Chaos beats Talon. Chaos was looking for someone to bash around. A guaranteed victory if you like. That’s how Talon got the gig. Lord Nexus wasn’t sure if it would do the youngster much good being cannon fodder but didn’t want to dampen his enthusiasm. If Talon could last 5 minutes it would be an achievement. Of course all the enthusiasm drains out of Talon as Chaos comes close to him. He looks up at this enormous man and starts sweating like a pig. No time to lose your nerve now. Chaos grins and offers Talon a free hit to get him started. Talon gets more than one in before Chaos retreats out of the ring. When he comes back starts to lay into Talon. But he takes a good while to actually win. Not clear if he is playing with him or genuinely having trouble. However he eventually polishes it off with BOW OF DEFEAT and tosses Talon’s limp and lifeless body to that mat.

CARD 966 – PELF PALACE:
Scourge is refereeing all the bouts tonight. Commissioner Grogan said this will not be a common thing but it was reward for his exemplary and impartial calling of matches last month. Other than the Cruiserweight tournament there is no other gold on the line tonight. CPC sticking to its policy of having its champions only defend every other month. But that only applies to wrestlers on its own roster. GWF wrestlers holding their belts, of which there are none, still have to defend every month. If that’s not favouritism I don’t know what is. The main event is highly anticipated. The singles stars of the Penthouse Suite against their counterparts on the Champions in tag action. Best of 3 falls. Thantos and Star Warrior both at ringside. Scourge as the referee. What could go wrong?
Prodigy and Paragon defeated Pegasus and US. Patriot 2-0 in a Best of 3 match. Star Warrior leads his team out first and looks like he needs to try and get them more motivated. There is a look of resignation on their faces before things have even begun. In stark contrast to the confident approach of their opponents led by the wily Thantos. Although it must be noted Paragon looks jealous as Prodigy unbuckles the CPC Heavyweight belt and hands it Thantos. Scourge then gives Thantos a wink with his one good eye. He has been making dodgy calls left, right and centre and looked about ready to continue that trend to the detriment of the GWF wrestlers in this big main event. Doesn’t bode well. However the first fall actually ends clean. Well cleanish. Prodigy catches US. Patriot with THE PERFECT SINGLES FINISHER twice. First time Pegasus makes the pin save but second time he gets blocked off by Scourge. So Star Warrior tries to help Adam out. Paragon just cuts him off with a powerful clothesline. Prodigy then pins Adam aided by a fast count from Scourge. It’s also noticed that Thantos had reached in to hold down the legs of Adam. Terrible start and clearly the Champions don’t have a chance. Pegasus fights back valiantly in the second fall and even subjects Paragon to PROJECT PEGASUS. But Prodigy just storms the ring. Adam comes in too and the ensuing brawl means the effectiveness of the move is lost. Pegasus tries to keep the momentum after this but makes the mistake of going after Paragon when he was having a break outside and talking to Thantos. It was the perfect excuse for Scourge to call his latest DQ and with that the match is over. Fist pumps from Magnus Colby in the VIP gallery but surely he couldn’t take satisfaction in this. It was such a travesty. Star Warrior beckon his guys away from the scene. Shouting out “leave them to it, don't come down to their level”. He later challenges Thantos to face his Champions team at a GWF arena for a fair fight.
CPC Cruiserweight Belt Tournament Final:
Brainstorm beats Halcon Oro by count-out to win the title. The CPC Cruiserweight belt takes pride of place next to the announcer’s table. It is on a pedestal atop a red velvet cushion. Diamonds glistening off it. Brainstorm’s ladies are smitten with it but it’s all looky no touchy. Officials keeping it guarded. Prodigy, as it’s greatest ever champion, is on hand to present it to the winner. After what we saw in the opening round Halcon Oro is the hot favourite but he finds this much more difficult. Brainstorm will do anything to get an edge unlike Ursa Major. The early exchanges saw momentum going to and fro. It then all ramps up when Halcon Oro throws Brainstrom into a turnbuckle and suicidally somersaults across the ring towards him. He ends up running into a boot. The lingering effect of which sees him clamber around as if drunk and then fall through the ropes. Brainstorm senses victory and gives Maxine Babe and Darla a signal. Whilst he distracts Scourge they pounce on Halcon Oro. Darla strangles whilst Maxine Babe stamps on him with her stilettos. All done so fast that when Scourge pushes Brainstorm away to see what’s going on the ladies are back on the other side of the ring fixing their make up. Scourge knows there was foul play but didn’t seem to care and lays on the count. Halcon Oro could barely get his head up much less clamber back in the ring. Brainstorm wins and the girls go crazy again with usual inappropriately provocative celebrations. Prodigy hands the belt over and declares “wear it with pride. This is what set me on the path to greatness. But don’t get too comfortable. One day I may want it back”. He then picks up his own CPC Heavyweight belt which dwarfs the Cruiserweight one and heads back up the runway. He’ll be back out in a few minutes for the main event.
Jack of Diamonds defeats Mad Jester by forfeit. Jack continues to test the waters against Jester. However he gets a pleasant surprise as Defender of the Realm walks towards the ring. He informs Scourge that he is forfeiting the match. In the gallery Commissioner Grogan angrily rises to his feet and demands that he wrestle but Defender defiantly holds out his spear and shouts “I would never fight my friend”. The confused announcer seeks instruction through his earpiece and after a couple of minutes pass reluctantly informs the restless crowd that Jack of Diamonds has won the match. Is this a turning point in the split personality battle? One thing is certain with this character is that we must expect the unexpected. He could still quite easily show up as Jester when Defender is booked in the next match. Jack still needs to tread carefully but for now at least he is pretty happy.
Gila beats Monad in a big upset. Monad aiming to be Gila’s tormentor again. Having beaten him at CPC PERENNIAL it is assumed the same will happen here. Worries that Mollock might of been banned from Pelf Palace are allayed as he is given the green light to be at ringside. Just as well he was. He gave Gila the security needed to go on and pull of a big upset. Gila could of had it won very quickly. Using his GUT CHECK twice. If it had been in a GWF arena with the rules against Monad’s shoulder blades still in place it would of been over. But the shadiness of the CPC combined with Scourge gave a reprieve. Only temporarily though. Monad just all over the place and Doomsayer can only look on in horror as a move Gila learned from Terak does the business. A Predator Pounce taking Monad down and this time nothing could save him. Mollock excitedly picks Gila up and smothers him in a hug. Gila gets lost amid the huge mass of fur. It’s a great moment. Doomsayer cannot believe how badly tonight has gone for his team.
Hunters of Prey cut Desolation Factor down to size. The Hunters are really testing themselves. Desolation Factor this week, the Gladiators next. Hopefully they’ll still be in one piece after it is over. Even though last month’s debut performance was underwhelming from Desolation Factor their manager, Doomsayer, bragged it’s the sign of a potentially great team to be in the winning habit even when not at its best. However he will be at a loss to explain this one. Desolation Factor slumps big time right in front of the eyes of the gallery. Early power moves serve to mask the impending disaster. Karah coped admirably with everything that comes his way, gets a little run of offense going which include some jaw dropping moves. Then hands off to his more experienced mate. Wildcat doesn’t let up on Ruin and even when the behemoth goes out the ring he isn’t allowed to catch breath. He is struck with WILDCAT STRIKE and even the onrushing Doomsayer and a slow count from Scourge cannot save him.
Vyper destroyed Dark Justice. Controversially Scourge confiscates the Rod of Justice but does not do the same to Vyper’s snakes. Probably out of fear. One is draped over the top rope and coils itself around it. Scourge simply says of the rod “this is not yet certified for use in the CPC”. Justice just cannot get a break against these guys. He shrugs with a look of resignation and engages. However the loss of the rod and fear of being ambushed by Splatter and the Terrorists not to mention the presence of the snake makes this an inevitability. Vyper barely has to get out of first gear and delivers VYPER’S SHOW within just 6 moves. Justice had been constantly floored with Predator Pounce in the lead up. Unfortunately this is a task to great to take on alone for Justice. He needs his ‘buddies’ the Mercenaries back if he is to stand any chance going forwards.
CPC Cruiserweight Belt Tournament First Round:
Newcomer Halcon Oro aka Golden Hawk debuts in the tournament. Not much known about him but he hails from Mexico on Earth and looks like an exciting high flyer. Brainstorm and Ursa Major are entered as they aim for double glory. Both also due to meet later in the month for the GWF counterpart. They are joined by Lycosa. For some reason Enigma misses out.
Brainstorm shocks Lycosa. Clearly the CPC Cruiserweight belt doesn’t mean quite as much because the ladies are back at ringside. Brainstorm could probably of done with Johnny Rocket to help blunt the high flying attacks of Lycosa. But they do a fine job for him as it happens. Didn’t look good for Brainstorm as Lycosa inflicts BLACK WIDOW’S BITE. Maxine Babe now leaps on the apron and flashes her cleavage. Lycosa drops everything to stare. Like a rabbit in headlights. Brainstorm survives as a result. He then goes onto it stun after Lycosa after a long tussle. Severely weakening him with THE BRAINSTORMER but it was actually a Running Lariat that gets the win. Surely Brainstorm can’t go and capture the CPC belt to go with the GWF one. Never in a million years would anyone of predicted that.
Halcon Oro needs less than a minute to beat Ursa Major. A chance for Halcon Oro to make an immediate impact. It could be the fastest rise to a title belt in wrestling history. He certainly is spectacular. A hero back on Mexico known for a lot of self confidence bordering on arrogance. At the same time a strong believer in fair play. He snubs the handshake offer from Ursa Major but does nothing in the match that can be considered underhand. Although chance would be a fine thing as he has it won in only two moves. Ursa Major tries to start fast with a 360 off the top rope but misses. Halcon Oro follows up with a springboard legdrop and pins him. He makes sure Ursa Major is okay and leaves. What a debut.

CARD 967 – ACHERNAR TECHNODROME:
THE LAUNCHING PAD - COLUSSUS … Johnny Rocket’s old show is back and it features a controversial interview with Colussus where he tries to justify his CPC move “I am in wrestling to make money. But I was getting a pittance compared to most. The GWF seemed to think because I was part of the top hero team they could get away with paying me mates rates or something. So I needed to look for a workaround. That’s when the CPC came in and made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. I need to do what’s best by me and to feed my family. That’s the main reason I moved. But the guys on the Champions also never supported me. I suffered terrible racial abuse at times but all Star Warrior cared about was pushing Pegasus and his own brother. I was always forgotten. Well not anymore. Everyone thinks my internal circuits have gone haywire but that’s not true. I have seen the light and I am now hungry for my match with Pegasus next week where I will show the Champions team what they are missing. They’ll wish they never let me go”. He gets jeered throughout. Nobody is sympathising. The line about his internals being corrupted was interesting because Colussus grimaced a few times as if he was suffering shooting pains in his head. He also had plenty to say about longtime enemy Heracles but declared all could be forgiven if he crossed the line too and joined the CPC. Not sure if the offer is kosher but he claims Heracles has been approached.
Heavyweight champ, Mandrill, beats Malice in an incident free match. This was huge for many reasons. Mandrill desperate to keep the symbol of power that the belt represents. At the same time wanting to keep things civil with the Gladiators. The likely plan would be to stifle Sentry. If he starts taking shots at a Gladiator it could start a war that Mandrill doesn’t need. But it was pretty important he didn’t lose. Especially so soon after losing to Blizzard in a non-title bout. That had damaged his reputation quite a bit already. Mandrill has said very little about that night except “if the belt had been on line then the outcome would of been very different”. Luckily he gets back on his perch with a very convincing win here. Maybe Malice just isn’t ready to be at the very top table. Mandrill controls the large majority of the match. From the moment a Voltaic Stunner zapped Malice only one winner likely. Malice had probably one decent moment but quickly relinquished control after a whip into the ropes saw Mandrill flatten him on the rebound. Evasive moves then needed from Malice to avoid being pinned after COLONIZER CLAW SLAM and MUTANT MAULER. Trouble was this all took a toll. Later when Mandrill offloads a big atomic drop it ends the challenge of Malice. The impact reverberated right through his big frame. Mandrill gratefully accepts the pin and keeps his belt. More relief than joy. This was dangerous to negotiate but he’d done the job without damaging relations with the Gladiators.
Pegasus scrapes to victory over Draconian Sheik by DQ. Big year for Pegasus as he aims to get back to the top of the pile. By his standards 2106 was a quiet year. Things hadn’t started too well against Malice but there was a big improvement in beating Terminus and he’s now hoping to start churning out the wins. The danger of facing someone like Draconian Sheik was immediately obvious as the Terrorists take up their posts. Even Star Warrior keeps a wise distance from them. Pegasus began well enough but went for a deathjump very early on. An unnecessary risk and no surprise to see it end badly. One Terrorist jumps on the apron. This distracts both the referee and Star Warrior. Meanwhile the other Terrorist goes to where Pegasus is perched and bites him on the back of his leg before he could jump. Pegasus falls into the ring and Drac just savages him. Several minutes of barbaric punishment begins including an agonising stint in DRACONIAN BACKBREAKER and his head was bashed countless times into steel objects like the ring steps and an exposed buckle (more Terrorist handywork). Pegasus is bleeding and close to losing yet another important match but Drac throws him out of the ring instead. Like a carcass to vultures as the Terrorists descend on him. Star Warrior bravely rushes around the ring and throws himself at them. Floors one with a crossbody. The other is dealt with by Pegasus arming himself with a chair for protection. Given a chance to grab the weapon by Star Warrior’s surprise cavalier attack. Drac is about ready to jump into the mix but the Commissioners have beefed up security and almost a dozen guys swoop to stop things escalating further out of control. The crowd noise almost drowns out the announcer but the verdict ruled in favour of Pegasus by DQ. Fortunate win there.
Vanity easily beats Brainstorm. Cruiserweight belt was not on the line much to the chagrin of Vanity. It is his first attempt to win Maxine Babe back and he soon forgets all about the belt when he sees her. She is all over Brainstorm though. More than usual. It’s borderline x-rated in a ploy to drive Vanity crazy. Vanity reacts by grabbing Darla’s arm and trying to smooch with her but ends up embarrassed as she slaps him. Reynard B. Guile chews the referee’s ear off over it. He can keep going on about it til he’s blue in the face but it won’t do any good. But it doesn’t matter. The slap seemed to invoke a red mist over Vanity and he now squashes Brainstorm. Just 4 moves with LADIES CHOICE ending it. B. Guile playing the valets role in making the move successful. He even stops Darla’s distraction on the apron by trying to pull her knickers down. So Vanity gets the first win between these two. Now grabs a mic and says to Maxine Babe “how about that? Bet you want to come back to me now”. She snatches it off him and responds (pointing at Brainstorm’s belts) “not until you have one of these. Besides Brainstorm wasn’t even trying as it was non-title. Now get that old, wrinkly body away from me before I puke”. B. Guile convinces Vanity to leave “you did your part. Forget about that trollop. After a win like that the GWF will be banging at your door to offer you a contract and a title shot and we can tell them where to go. They never treated you fairly”.
Nefarus comfortably beats Terak by count-out. Terak still likes to enter the ring and get his hands dirty despite his advancing years. To show he is as dedicated to as anyone to the hero cause he boldly challenged Nefarus, the right hand man of Mandrill. Initially he wanted the organ grinder and not the monkey but there was no way Mandrill was going to give him the time of day. Not in a month where he faces Blizzard, Max Shield and also defends his newly acquired Heavyweight belt against Malice. Perhaps surprising Nefarus could even be bothered to accept it. An unexpectedly energetic start by Terak and the fans dare to dream but it soon gets stifled by SCISSORDRIVER. No chance after that. Terak gets thrown out of the ring and is counted-out after a suspected shot from Sentry. But even the replays were inconclusive. Nefarus celebrates but gets a rude shock as he turns around. In what can only be described as ‘sh*t yourself moment’ Nefarus comes face to face with Mollock. Terak made a pretty quick recovery and says from outside the ring “what’s the panic? There’s no need to be afraid. Mollock’s a bit softie at heart. Just ask the Gladiators”. Mollock then bares his fangs and snarls. His strong breath disturbing the hair on Nefarus’s head. Nefarus almost trips over himself trying to get away. Tears up the runway with Sentry struggling to keep up behind. Terak may of lost but he enjoys the cheering of the crowd at that moment. Gets even better when releasing Nefarus has left his iconic leather jacket behind so Mollock rips to shreds.
Thunder and Overkill undeserving winners over Hunters of Prey by DQ. The Hunters are buoyed by their shock win over Desolation Factor and really go for it. The speed of the Hunters dazzled Overkill. They use a double team option and criss cross the ropes. Thunder and Overkill don’t know what way to turn, just standing around like statues. It doesn’t help that Overkill also seems distracted and bothered by Mollock. It’s not often he comes across something bigger than him. But he needs to get his attention on the match as Thunder was getting creamed in the ring. He was hit with WILDCAT STRIKE x2 and HUNTER’S STRIKE all consecutively. Thrash has to leap to his aid and on the final strike Thunder managed a last gasp kickout. The action then spills out of the ring and Overkill cannot stay away from Mollock. Wanting a test of strength but the behemoth thinks he is under threat and bodyslams him onto the concrete. That draws the DQ and the Glaldiators survive a humiliation. Thunder tried to follow his lead and confront Mollock too but gets the same treatment. Not much of a bedside manner from Thrash as she says to both Gladiators “get up” and kicks them both in the side until they respond and leave. The Hunters wait til the coast is clear to return to the ring and take in the fan response. The crowd were so appreciative of their Herculean efforts in the ring. They deserved better than they got.
The Stormtroopers building a winning run as they beat Royal Flush by DQ. Commander Sam and Jack really holding their breath for this one. If Jester shows up then what will they do? They wait anxiously and when they hear the voice of Defender in the distance it is like music to the ears. Jack rushes out to give Defender a hug but Powerhouse opportunistically comes up and smashes their heads together. Sam cries foul but gets ignored as Powerhouse shows his strength to drag them both to the ring. Tossing Jack in and feeding him to the waiting Hammer. Cassandra claps this moment of ingenuity. Before Jack knows what’s going on he is on the end of STORMTROOPER BLITZ. Defender and Sam don’t move a muscle. Show faith in Jack to survive on his own. Their faith is repaid but it doesn’t trigger a big comeback. Royal Flush spends much of the rest of the match on the back foot. Defender ends up going too far as he whacks Powerhouse with his spear and they lose a key match. With wins this month over Rebel Empire and now Royal Flush what odds on a title shot now for the Stormtroopers. It could happen.
